Used 2004 Lexus RX 330 Consumer Reviews
My Lexus
My wife and I purchased this vehicle for her, and since I must drive it periodically I feel free to comment on it. I am somewhat disappointed with the performance and handling aspects of this vehicle, it handles almost as badly as my Isuzu and no where near as well as my Benz. The transmission and the parts cost are my single major complaints, as well as the service intervals, which for a vehicle of this so called caliber should be less frequent. The transmission really feels like an old Yugo with a stick, too much jerky and choppy. I would not purchase another Lexus until they could assure me that this and the maintenance intervals are more rational.
Frustrated
I purchased my RX330 in August and up until a month ago I was very happy with the car. Then a slight clunking noise developed whenever the transmission downshifs from 4th gear to 3rd gear. The same noise also appears when lightly accelerating or decelerating at speeds from 30 to 45 mph. Lexus says its normal torque converter noise. Not on any other car I have driven especially when the price tag is approaching $50,000. Assuming Lexus is not going to fix this problem, this will be the last Lexus I will buy. So much for the relentless persuit of perfection.

DO NOT BUY 2004 RX330
HUGE disappointment and waste of $44k. Taken back to dealer 4 times since July for rattles they can't fix (ripped out dash twice) jerky transmission that "clunks" when you come to a stop, loud wind/road noise-it sounds like a window is open. Loud, ticking noise from engine. Lexus says this is "normal" although their ES330 with the same engine does not have this noise. DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE.Dealer admits there are many problems with the new RX330. Many others are having the same problems.I would hope that Lexus would adhere to their bogus "Passionate Pursuit of Perfection" and stop production until they can produce a quality vehicle.
Never again will I buy it again.
The AWD software can't decide between 1- 3 gears through 30 mph. Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria, VA couldn't get the replacement software. The power socket and the instrument panel pulled out with my phone charger. The AWD system is useless when going up icy roads even when the wheels on either side are on "DRY" pavement. The brake lights are unsafely high. It takes a long time to accelerate when merging and changing lanes. Metal strips on floor of every door step/entrance get dented easily. It is not fun to drive. I'm averaging 16 mpg for the first 3500 miles.
Unpredictable Lexus
I love my Lexus RX 300. I upgraded from a Honda Prelude. It has a lot of features to keep me interested. It is fun to drive and my daughter is having fun throwing everything on the floor.
