I now have over 6k miles and things are going well. If I keep my foot out of it, I average about 31mpg, when I don't keep off the gas, I get about 26/27mpg. Everything is still like new, I bought some fitted neoprene seat covers from CoverKing in black and red. Goes well with the red stitching and the seat heater still gives off good heat with them on. The car is fun to drive and can get up and move when needed. Only thing that has bothered me so far, is a get a buzzing sound from the left front speaker area at times. Its not consistent and it's hard to find. One thing that will drive me crazy are squeaks and rattles. Once i find out where it's coming from, if it's not fixable and it gets worse, I'll trade the car in, that's how much I hate a rattle or buzzing noise. But, so far its very infrequent.....so far. Other than that, love the ride and tech. The lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control are spot on. The audio is excellent and I found that it will work with my old iPod Nano through a blue tooth adapter on the iPod. I'll update when I'm around 12K and see how it's going.

I bought my 2020 soul lx in June of 2020. It started knocking at 6k miles. It now has 13k on it and kia is stating this is normal. It is the most embarrassing car I've ever bought. The stares I get in parking lots from people looking at a new car with a bottom end knock is terrible. Save your self the hassle and buy anything else but one of these. And to add to it the car has alot of blow by and burns 2.5 quarts or oil every 5k miles. Kia said its okay to burn up to 3 quarts in-between changes. The car only hold 4.25 quarts!! If they would stand behind what they sell they could have a great product. I will never recommend a kia to anyone or buy another. Should have kept my ford escape it had a way better drivetrain and no knocking!

I’ve had the 2020 Kia Soul LX for a little less than a month. In that short time I’ve found it to be an excellent car. It’s been a headache trying to fathom all the new features, but it has performed flawlessly. I live in Northeast Ohio where there are no steep mountains and it is winter as I write this. The mileage I’ve accrued has been mostly in the city, with a little on highways. I think it gets more than 27 miles per gallon city and 33 highway. Visual appearance for me is important. The exterior color, Mars Orange, the black interior and the unique silhouette of the Soul, are a perfect combination. The front seats, which can be adjusted to fit anyone, are the best of any car I’ve owned or ridden in. As other reviewers have noted, it is a small car, but you wouldn’t know it once you are driving. Excellent visibility matched to equally excellent driving position. The rear passenger windows and trunk window are darkened to prevent see-through, another nice touch. Virtually everything is either automatic or available if you want it. Two examples, among numerous others, include setting the temperature at 72 degrees and having a heated steering wheel. Speaking of which, the power steering is assisted electronically, thus giving it almost a feather touch. There is one small flaw and that is the radio pre-sets, at least where I live, are not that great. But, ironically for such a modern car, there is a rotary tuning knob that comes to the rescue. In sum, this car matches fun with beauty, and at a great price too! I sound like a paid spokesman for the company, and I’m not. This is just giving credit where it’s due.

Souls now use the CVT transmission, avoid this

We bought our 2020 soul brand new in November 2019. At exactly 626 miles (of very light easy driving) the transmission suffered catastrophic failure. We waited for another transmission to arrive from Korea and was our of our car for 2 months. When we picked the car up, the dealer assured us it was a fluke, however I learned that this is nothing new. Kia used the same CVT transmission in the 2019 Forte, and suffered nothing but problems. After much research, I have learned that the CVT transmission has destroyed a bunch of major car brands reputation, mostly Nissan amongst others. A CVT transmission is one that lacks the gears of previous types, is supposed to offer better fuel economy but is unfortunately a new untested type for most manufacturers. I am sorry but I can not recommend this car to anyone as long as they use this new type of untested transmission. It was covered under warranty since it’s a brand new car of course, but the total bill was over $3500. Kia did pay for the full repair and apologized, I will give them credit for that. But who wants a car that will need a transmission every so often that requires a second mortgage to pay for. Ludicrous.
