2016 Kia Soul ! 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 6A)

Leased 2 Souls first, bought the 3rd. I have always loved modest quirky cars, and this is my all time favorite car - it's perfect for me! I even request it when I have to rent while traveling. It is by far the easiest car to get in and out of. And fully equipped, my ! feels absolutely luxurious. 9/13/18 update: My wife got a CR-V, which is very noisy compared to my Soul. Unless we need the extra cargo area of the Honda, we prefer the Kia.

Kia has done a great job with the Soul. Especially like the ample room (I am 6'3"). Adjustable steering a really nice feature-really like the Sport mode. Very nice interior design and features. Really enjoying Infiniti audio system with HD radio. Ample power with nice, supple ride for a small car. Got the Plus with primo package. Many nice features for a reasonable price. Have had this Soul for one and a half months so have not driven it in snow as yet, but has done well in rain. November update: still no snow. Really like heated steering wheel.

If You Want Reliability --- Stay Away from These

Larry Says "Stay Away" ., 12/30/2020
2016 Kia Soul ! 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 6A)

Actually, I've loved my 2016 Soul Exclaim. It's a nice car, my Exclaim model has every option available from leather seats, navigation, panoramic moon roof, Infinity sound, etc. As far as options go, it's great. As far as reliability goes, it's horrible. I have 40,000 miles, and it's exceptionally well-maintained, but the problem is that it likes to take a lot of rides on tow trucks. Almost been killed 3 times on the Interstate when, out of nowhere, it died, and didn't even have the power to pull over onto the shoulder. Took it in 3 times, and they could find nothing wrong. Finally, on the last tow, they found a bad plug wire. Three times into the dealership....really? Now, I'm driving around having to hold my driver's door closed because it won't latch. Took it in last week, and they don't have the part, so then sent me home, holding my door closed with one hand while I drive. No offer to pay for rental or loaner car, just have to hold the door with one hand. The part is coming in shortly, or so I'm told, so I've been driving around just holding my door closed with a bungee cord. I definitely get looks, heads shaking at me, so it's not a good marketing tactic for Kia when people see a bungee cord holding my door closed on a beautiful looking Soul. Another problem is with the hatch staying open, along with cheap plastic parts falling off of the interior of the hatch. Had hydraulics changed twice. Not poor quality, WORSE THAN POOR QUALITY. When I take it in for service, the manager says they'd love mine for a trade with it's looks, options, and low mileage. Can't afford to trade, and will never have another Kia ... EVER! Stay away from these pieces of crap.

I couldn't decide on witch car to buy at all. I was skeptical of buying a Kia Soul. Because we had a Sephia from Kia and I end up giving it for trade in at 4 yrs. of owning it. It wasn´t a good car at all. But I end up buying a reposed Kia Soul from 2016 with 14.0 k miles. for 16 k. with guaranty and After a month of owning it. I couldn't be more HAPPY! about the decision made. even my nephew who´s 6 is asking me if he can have it when he grows up. We laugh about it. He likes the confort of the back seats and the stile of it. I love the hole deal! Better the gas that I´m saving. It´s giving me two weeks of driving for 20$ vs 70$ or 80$ for a week on the Explorer XLS of the 2000. Thank´s Kia for making it better! God Is Always Good! Two years have pased since this review writting. Well let me tell you you only need to put gas on it, change oil, change breaks if need it, of course the batery if it dies on you but so far oil change and gas. Im still HAPPY! with this change. Time has passed since I changed to a Soul and bought it. So far only oil change, Tires you know the basics and still strong. I still couldnt be happyer with my desition. I recomend this car but only can say till 2019 because then it changed and I dont know about the knew model with dual clutch. God Blessed!

Purchased the 2016 Soul+ with 14k miles. Now (June 2018) it has 33k miles. So far zero problems. THe Soul+ has the 2.0 liter engine, which I recommend. I test drove the standard Soul (1.6 liter) and it lacked power, and was constantly shifting itself. Also the Soul+ has more bells and whistles. We average in the high 20s mpg which is fine (over 30 on hiway). The front seats are surprisingly comfortable and supportive and we like the driving position. I'm tall (6.2) and so leg room is important, and this car has plenty of it. I've found that too many smaller SUVs compromise on leg room, with the shifter console much too big and intrusive. Not so with the Soul. My right leg rests comfortably....a major plus for me. The only negative about this vehicle is that there is not a lot of storage room behind the rear seats. You get good height, but not enough depth; although you can push down the rear seat backs if necessary. Sure, the looks of this vehicle are a bit quirky (hey, there's a ton of them on the road!), but if you can get past that, this is a great small SUV.
