Sporty Grandma Ride!

MARY ANN Curran, 12/07/2016

Do your research.......Shop Around.........Have your finance ready before you go in......Be ready to walk if they don't give you what you want for the price. If they don't get back to you or treat you with respect..assume they don't really want your business. I've only had the car a few weeks but I love the ride, it's very comfortable..Lots of bells and whistles to get used too. Remains to be seen what the miles per gallon will be because of stop and go nature of my work. Have not had it out on a long trip or in the snow but handles well in the rain.

I tell people this is a big car without being a big car! If I put the driver seat all the back, it's actually too far! And people behind me are still comfortable!! I love that I can adjust the gas mileage settings (Eco button) for times when I need to accelerate quickly and times when I'm just cruising. There's plenty of storage space with the rear seats up or down. The stereo system is good, I see no reason to replace it. Can't beat the 10 year powertrain warranty (major reason I wanted Kia). I was between Kia or Hyundai for the 10 year warranty, but the Soul is much better deal at under $20,000 for most models. I love this car. My only complaint is the drag in the acceleration when the AC is on, but that will happen with any car.

First new car in over 45 years and I like it!

I shopped for a new car for 2 years before I bought my 2016 Kia. I knew nothing about it but would ask other owners their thoughts when I saw one. What stood out was the gas mileage. I am an older woman on the go with 5 rental properties so I needed something for fuel economy and roomy enough to haul small items without giving up comfort or paying an outrageous price like a truck. This sporty little car has turned out to be far more than I expected. My son who is 6'2 says he was surprised at the room and comfort. I have not ridden in the back seat so I cant review. I get around 28-32 mpg in the city and if I dont drive above the speed limit I have gotten as high as 36 mpg on the highway. Space wise....I have moved small furniture, large boxes, taken long trips with luggage and large coolers and am shocked how much this car holds. In the two years I have owned it the only repair other than the covered lifetime oil changes I get (a huge plus) was a battery failure which Kia covered under warranty. They only reason I rate the technology a 4 star is I do have problems with the bluetooth sometimes and the phone connecting to hands free but I dont know if that is the car or me the operator. I have never written a car review as I usually bought used cars and drove them until they quit but I am very please with my Kia Soul.

2016 Kia Soul +

The second best car I’ve ever owned, the first being my former 2010 Kia Soul +. The car gets 36-37+ mpg on the open road, around 34-35 combined when a lot is city. The car is a great value, loads up like a pick up truck, and great for trips and shopping. This newest engine version is amazing and has unbelievable passing power and yet such great fuel economy. I run only Mobil 1 oil and to get this milage always a Kia oil filter which provides me with at least 10-12% better fuel economy than anyone I know using oil from crude. Thank you Kia for not butchering up the Kia Soul and continuing to keep the car in the spirit of economy, value, performance, ride, room, convenience, and reliable with 100,000 mile warranty (unless you use other than a Kia oil filter). Thumbs Up!! UPDATE JUNE 2020 - Have been driving the car in a routine delivery application around town and getting 31.2 to 33.7 mpg. The only negative is the ride is a little stiff on horrible city streets but it is manageable in exchange for the pluses I get from the car. UPDATE DECEMBER 2021 - with well over 100,000 miles (~118,000) the car still has the same getty-up-go as new, still maintains 31 to 34 mpg average per tank, gets between 28 to 31 mpg while delivering 10-22 orders a day in town, with average delivers of about 3 miles, and just getting ready to install my 3rd set of tires, yes the original tire make that the car came with, although this latest set cost $100 more than the last set at $240. Expecting to run this car to about 200,000 before making a decision what to do henceforth. 125K mile review update. The car continues to be an amazing vehicle. Still solid as a rock, on it's 3rd set of tires since new. Still getting over 30 mpg even while driving over 100 to 200 miles a day when working locally within the county. Definitely looking for 200K plus miles outta this vehicle and Still changing the oil at ~5K miles using 100% Mobil 1 full synthetic 5-20W as Kia manual and oil cap read, plus continuing to use only Kia brand oil filters that I buy from the local Kia dealer in quantities of 4 to 8 at a time. The car has had three deer strike 138K mile Review 11/2022. The car is still running amazing. Averaging between 34 and 36 mpg combined driving. Have not replaced shocks yet, although I'm guessing it's probably time. The have had all new parts on the front fenders, hood, and lower grill plus a headlight from a deer strike. At this very moment awaiting parts to replace the lower grill both sides from bagging my limit in two weeks; one week a buck and the next week a doe, only this time avoided headlights, hood, and fenders . . only wrecked up the vinyl lower wrap around. Yes! We are planning to either get the new Hyundi sport pick up or another Honda Ridgeline, about a 2018 and keep this Soul to 200K miles. :-) UPDATE 2023 the Soul now has 144,238 miles and averaging 34 to 37 mpg and running great. It’s 1/3 way through the third set of original brand and make of tires, and no wobble, play, or malfunction if the steering or engine stutter. UPDATE November 2023 - the car now has 151,367 miles, still maintaining the same amazing fuel economy for a full sized vehicle and not using any oil. On the 3rd set of tires and maybe about ready for a 4th set in the next several months. ,

This is the second Kia Soul that I have owned; the first being a 2011 (WHICH I LOVED, but can't drive standard anymore, which is why I had to buy new) I must say; I LOVED my old one, but this one... OMG SO MUCH nicer!!! More features for the base model (which is what I had before and now) MORE power, MORE room, MORE of everything... I am absolutely IMPRESSED with Kia and how much they have grown since the first few hit the market some years back (I owned a 99 Kia Sportage Convertable 4x4) the quality and pricing is SO awesome! I recommend these cars to anyone and everyone and turn non-believers to believers... Our family NOW owns 3 Kia's we are going onto 5 within the next few weeks... A Sorento (moms) Soul (mines) Sportage (my niece and her husband) and another niece who is going for an Optima and one of my sisters is looking at a Sportage for herself... We are TRULY becoming a family of Kia; absolutely LOVE the new Kia's! If you haven't switched; go take a look, a drive, etc and decide then... I give my Soul and A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
