Used 1998 Isuzu Trooper Consumer Reviews
Most underrated SUV ever
Boght this SUV used with just over 30,000 miles. It was loaded with all I needed for around 12K. Amazing. Drover most other similar size trucks - Explorer, Pathfinder, 4Runner, Durango, Tahoe. This car was thousands cheaper and felt better on and off road. So far no problems at all - it survivied a Moscow winter (yes, Russia)and braved huge snowdrifts and potholes without complaint. If this car can survive in Russia - rest assured it will be just fine in the States. I plan to bring it back with me in two years when I come home. I use Mobil 1 and change fluids religiously. Great SUV.
Second Trooper
This is our second Trooper. The first was a '94, basic 4 door model. The second has more options and both have performed very well on and off road. We have been from desert trails in Big Bend to 13,000' mountain trails in Colorado, and have never been disappointed. Very little maintainance. Just wish they had one with a third seat!

Best vehicle I've owned
I've had Toyota, Mazda (twice) and BMW, but found my 1998 Isuzu Trooper to be, hands down, the most reliable and FUN vehicle to date. It's great off road and makes you feel secure in mountain snow and the wilds of Mexico. The size is ideal for threading through the desert scrub and squeezing into that "compact-only" parking space, while allowing you to pile items to the roof inside. The best.
Good SUV
The only downsides are low gas mileage, slow acceleration and soft suspension. No mechanical problems after 4 years.
Thom's Trooper
Excellent vehicle with no mechanical issues. I provide oil changes every 3000 miles and this vehicle has been very dependable.
