Another Satified Used Buyer
If you off-road or drive in heavy weather look at this vehicle as a true sleeper used car buy. Rock solid reliable off-road capability. For the money, more going for it than anything else. Big interior. High comfort levels.
SUV of choice.
If you're going to go with an SUV the Trooper is the way to go. I've only had one minor problem, the intake manifold gasket, that cost all of $200 to fix and ever since then (also up until then) it's been really reliable. I could start writing about how much I love driving in the snow with it. But that's a whole different review.
Best Bang For Your Buck
Has been the best car I have ever owned. 118,000 miles and just replaced a starter. That's it. Taken us to the snow, the mud, the beach and never let us down. Not the greatest mileage, but the best bang for your buck. Too bad the replacement came from GM. We'd like a new one someday!
Oil consumption blows/interior accents
I bought new in '98. I have taken care of it like my truck I had before some scmuck hit me--loved that truck. Anyhow AC really doesn't cut it in the southwest summers--it sucks actually. It would be great for mild climates. Once the temp got over 100, roll down the windows! Also I'm losing about 2 quarts per month, and the interior carpeting is poorly installed. Window tracks are weak, and all cupholders, especially the rear seat really stinks. the magnet latch always breaks.
98 trooper
Great bang for the bucks, the truck is a major asset for camping, fire rd excursion and grocery shopping once in a while.
