Used 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Consumer Reviews
Yes and no...
OK - I've got a history with Honda. I bought my first Odyssey van new in 2008. It's been the best vehicle I've ever owned. But with mileage piling up and with little things starting to nickel-and-dime me, I decided last year that it was time to get a new one. Based on the goodness of my 2008 model, I bought a 2018 Odyssey. The ergonomics fail to live up to what I expected. But my wife likes the 2018 for its safety features. Which brings me to our 2019 Accord EX hybrid. Numerous features seemed appealing to me for the sedan (which will be my work car). The most desirable is the fuel economy. So this original review was written after about 100 miles on the car. Skip to the end to see the update. LIKES: 1. Fantastic fuel economy (compared to non-hybrid cars & SUVs) 2. Cool-looking power-transfer graphics 3. Familiar controls to our existing Odyssey 4. Smooth ride 5. Good pickup 6. Quiet in the cabin 7. Braking is progressive and solid-feeling 8. Impossible to tell when gasoline engine starts & stops 9. Good steering feedback 10. Reasonably comfortable driver’s seat But I can also see some things that I definitely don't like: 1. Low-slung chassis makes it (REALLY) difficult to enter and exit 2. No memory function for driver’s seat (meaning that wife & I won't swap driving for this one much) 3. Back-up beepers are extra - A LOT extra 4. Side-look backup radar either isn't on mine, or it isn't working (TBD) 5. Automatic rear braking is unavailable at any price (and I REALLY wanted this) 6. Navigation is unavailable on this model at any price, but at least it has Apple CarPlay 7. Full-stop-and-go adaptive cruise is unavailable at any price 8. Online prices for dealer-installed options don’t include labor (or else my dealer is ripping me off) 9. Blind-spot warning beepers aren’t loud enough (This is a SERIOUS safety issue) 10. Rear-view mirror is too narrow and restricts rear views 11. Only two cupholders (really? Really?) 12. Power sunroof whether you want one or not 13. Still too much black in the cabin (makes the car way too hot when parked in the sun) 14. Lingering feeling that I paid too much 15. Any car that lacks navigation should at least include a cell-phone holder - this one doesn’t 16. Weather-Tech floor-liners should have been included as a factory option So my conclusions are that Honda is unfortunately stuck in the old-school model of "if you want that safety feature, then you have to move two trim lines up and pay for a load of luxury features that you don't want." This should be criminal. Consumers should be able to buy EVERY safety feature offered by the manufacturer on EVERY trim line. So if you want safety features in a base trim line, don't buy Honda. Honda has ignored ergonomics in the 2019 Accord (and in our 2018 Odyssey). They did MUCH better a decade ago. I don't know why they abandoned their excellent ergonomics, but they're terrible now. If you're looking for good ergonomics, don't buy Honda. So why am I giving this car a three-star review? Because anything I can do to reduce carbon emissions is a good thing. I'm not willing to go all-electric yet due to concerns about range reduction as the batteries age, but I'll put up with Honda's terrible ergonomics and paltry safety features until next time. Honda - You CAN do better. Get off your duffs and do it! UPDATE - April 2020 - Although I still believe that I'd have been better off with a Prius or a Camry hybrid, my satisfaction with the Accord has grown over time. It is still a low-slung little car, but once I learned how to get in and out more gracefully, its size now bothers me less. My positive comments Nos. 1-6 and 8-10 above are still spot-on. The braking, however, (comment 7) has become a bit "grabby" over time and sometimes the car brakes more abruptly than others with the same pedal pressure. Variables affecting this seem to include the speed (more variable at lower speeds) and the amount of time since the car was last driven (this might be a "rust on the rotors" issue that diminishes with more frequent use). As to my negative comments above: 1. I've learned to enter and exit the car more easily. It's still low and hard to enter / exit (especially compared to my Odyssey van), but I can live with it. 2, 4, and 5 - This is my own fault. If I wanted memory seats (and leather), side look radar, and rear auto-braking which I did and do, I should have bought a Subaru. Mia culpa. 3. The backup beepers WERE extra, and the shop guys at my Honda dealer installed some of the sensors upside down. But they FINALLY got it right, and I'm happy with the proximity beepers (front & rear). 6. You know, I thought I'd miss the navigation feature, but the car does have "Apple Car Play," and I can use my cell phone to navigate (better, actually than the built in navigation on my Odyssey). Much better overall.

Poor automation, EPA estimates wrong
Pros: ride, sound, handling, acceleration good. Interior classy. Cons: automation poor. Innermitant radio and screen issues, vehicle has averaged 38 mpg over the last 10,000 miles. No where close to EPA estimates. $100 fee in Ohio when you get license plates for not buying enough gasoline ( which is not accurate).

Gas Mileage
You will never get the gas mileage that Honda is falsely claiming with Hybrid unless you drive like your 70 year old grand ma. On city streets with speeds below 60 mph it does a good job because you get help from the battery and save a lot of fuel by automatically switching to electric on stops and traffic lights. If your commute involves any highway that has posted speed limit above 55 you will never get 48 miles/ gallon. On the long distance interstate trips , it gets even horrible, the miles/gallon never goes above 35. Last weekend drove through the snow storm in Chicago and it dropped to 28 miles/gallon. I am regretting for trading my Dodge Charger with this one. It was giving better mileage on the highway even with V6 and AWD. So basically it helps only when you don't need the power like on the stop signs and traffic lights. whenever you need power to cruise at highway speed it is even worst than V6.
Worst car ever i have owned
It has really bad mileage, worst bluetooth attachment, it doesn't show speed numbers in miles on speedometer, steering is too heavy. I have other cars too but biggest mistake was buying this car. DON’T BUY THIS CAR.
