My Childhood Dream Car Come True

Since I was a child, I wanted a 50's T- Bird, and now that I have my black on black 2002, all of my dreams have been realized. She turns heads wherever I take her. The chrome wheels together with the chrome trim around the windshield really set the car off. It is more responsive than my Mustang GT. Honestly my most favorite of all the vehicles I've ever owned.

Wife's Little Bird

My wife looks great in this car. Folks point her out at the stop lights and parking lots. I did have to replace the coils but that was after several years. It was the same deal on the Lincolns having this engine. Only thing I wish was better; the review mirror and the sun visors. Just kind of chintzy when it comes to those items.

After 11 years one Ford dealer new the answer. Our car motored at 25MPH (as if in cruise control ) ever since new, so it was very hard to stop . There are lots of them with the same problem . You need to change the Idle air control, about $200. Ford calls it IABP The dealer is Sunny Side Ford in Holden Ma. Scotty service manager .

Thunderbird Myth

The best $20,000 car I've ever owned. Been a Ford person my entire life, but Ford missed it on this one. No engine power, transmission shifts when it wants (can not manually shift), engine hesitates terribly on downshifts, seats are made for someone twice as wide (no lateral support), suspension compromises won't make anyone happy. Clearcoat layer of paint was incomplete (looks like an amatuer did it). Door and trunk fit falls short of even Ford Focus standards. My 1994 Thunderbird, with more than 125,000 miles is twice the car at less than half the original price. How do you rate Reliability on a car with less than 4000 miles?

A bit noisy with soft-top. Hard-top, while requiring 4 arms to R&R, it is a yields a quiet cabin. It's been a long time since my car attracted so many eye-ball comments like "NICE, "SHARP" & so-on. Mine is black, which isn't the best color in Texas, I enjoy getting my SHINE-ON. Much easier to get in & out of than other Roadsters. My only negative is the lack of power. My Genesis 5.0 was 0-60 in 5 seconds. I do plan on some mods to up the power. MPG? Don't care.
