Replaced a 2007 Ranger
JDP, 03/02/2018
2017 Ford F-150 XLT 4dr SuperCab 4WD 8 ft. LB (5.0L 8cyl 6A)
Amazing that a 385 horsepower V8 in the F150 gets the same gas mileage as the V6 in my 2007 Ranger did. I love this truck, no complaints other than weak headlights. Great deal, sticker was $46,800, paid $11,800 less. Update: Now after 2 years and 25,000 miles still love my F150. Have had no problems or issues with it. After several long road trips have found the seats to be very … comfortable, AC more than adequate for 100F days. Getting 21 MPG on long trips, 17 mpg on my 23 mile commute to work. Have bought a 24' travel trailer, about 6,000 lbs. loaded. Pulls it easily, gas mileage drops to about 11 mpg, however. After 32,000 miles now, still going strong with no problems, just needing regular oil changes.
Due to Covid no commute in over a year so still only has 37,500 miles, going strong. No complaints, did put on new tires, Firestone Destination XT, much better offroad and snow than the OEM Goodyears.
UPDATE: After 6 years there is still a lot to like about my truck. The only problem has been a frozen door latch when it got down to 14F, and a recall fixed that. The original brake pads are still not worn out, and with the 5.0 V8 I get 16-18 mpg around town, 21 on the highway. Pulling our 25’ trailer it’s 11, still a range of 396 miles with the 36 gallon tank. Having done many trips I find the seats to be very comfortable, the ride smooth and quiet. The “type” was not listed, it’s actually a SuperCab XLT V8 5.0, 4X4 with
6.5’ bed.
