Great design and durability
A pleasure to drive, nicely designed, and easy on the wallet. Visibility is especially notable. Colorado snow and ice have presented few problems and we've never been stuck. With 144K miles, ours has needed no major work except for a loose subframe mount which gave plenty of warning and was easy to fix. It's a sensible car and I wish they were making them as user-friendly today.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Best vehicle ever out of 12 I have owned over 50 years. It is still working perfectly with 111,000 miles. Minimal maintenance over the past 16 years! I have only had to replace tires and regular battery up front. Cut Northern Virginia commute to DC (before I retired in 2015) from 1-1/4 hours to 26 minutes because Hybrids qualified to use HOV with one person. I wish I had purchased a second one the same year. Ford should have stayed with this Hybrid combo. Discontinuing it was HUGE mistake!!!

Absolutely love it!
Mine is grey with silver cladding on the bottom. It’s at 206900 miles(as of Apr. 2022), and everything still works great; Hybrid system runs when it’s supposed to and there’s no check engine light. My escape went through one owner before myself, and for its whole life, has resided in Washington state. I get around 25/26 mpg with my driving, and it works great in our PNW weather. I got into a ditch during a snowy night drive one time, and my escape was able to get itself unstuck without any help or exterior damage. I get it washed every other week and I’ve been told that it looks practically new. Got a car fax for my car just cause I was curious, and the fox says my specific car’s value is about 6100 bucks, so its holding its value well I think. I love how the hybrid system works cause at slow speeds like on residential roads, I drive like I’m in a Tesla XD. Tho, I will say that if you do even minor engine mods like a performance air filter, the car will eventually give you a error code. I don’t remember what it was but I think it was something to do with the MAF sensor getting dirty, so I put a stock kind of filter back in & it went away.

I miss Ma's Escape
way back when the 06 was new my mother bought a Ford Escape Hybrid, and they've owned one ever since. Ma knows nothing about car maintenance and dad was rarely around to do it, yet it just kept going and going and going and going and going! It even kept going after the hybrid battery died in 2018, and with decent gas milage too! I'd go as far to say the Ford Escape Hybrid is one of the best and most long lasting cars Ford has ever made sitting firmly alongside the Crown Victoria! That 06 went to my wife and I when it was finally time to move out and served us just as well 15 years after ma bought it, long passed 200k miles. The tough old bird finally gave out on a 116 degree day on the highway between Barstow CA and Las Vegas NV (blown gasket) and we unfortunately had to let her go. I'm currently in the market for a car again and well, if I can get one of these with low miles and a decent price I absolutely will, and you should too!

The Quiet SUV
Traded in my 4WD pick-up that got 15 mpg. Wanted to get this vehicle last winter, but there was no real availability in my area at that time. I have had it for a month and have driven about 2,500 miles and overall I am very pleased. I have averaged 30 mpg for all types of driving. I had to install a back-up alarm because when this vehicle is operating on electric you can't hear anything but the tires moving. I didn't get much for options because I have a Garmin Street Pilot GPS system. I take the vehicle out on backwoods roads to take me to hiking locations and it is a bit weird to roll along with no engine noise. People often stop to inquire about it and I'm always glad to inform them.
Thrives in Traffic
The Ford Escape Hybrid thrives best in traffic driving, no matter where it is. Open highway gas mileage a bit lower than expected, yet better than any other comparable SUVs in its class. Want to buy the 2008 because it looks even "beefier" outside. Only complaint: rear trunk carpet does not hold well, slide furniture or a heavy box into the back and the carpet slides with it exposing the 330amp battery.
