I get 34-38mpg Freeway Driving (63-80mph); 37-44 Highway (45-62); 38-50 City (25-45). My lifetime avg. is 38.9. I started getting about 3mpg better after 5000 miles. Cold weather (Under 40degrees), hilly conditions, stop and go driving, strong winds, and wet conditions can really drop the mpg. I get great gas mileage considering the size and drivability of the vehicle. I'm going from a Miata and B3000 pickup to the C-Max. I wanted a comfortable car, fun to drive, 40+ mpg, and with lots of tech stuff. I like the techy look. This car would be what I would have custom built for what I want/need at this stage of my life. Going from Cali to Idaho in style, comfort, and low expense!

Have owned it now for a couple of months and have driven close to 4,000 miles have averaged 46 MPG. My best was 61.& MPG on a 14 mile trip where I didn't get stopped by any stop lights. Used only 1 tank of gas one 2 and 1/2 week period while driving everywhere I needed and wanted to go, I didn't hold back, and I live 17 miles from town.

Well I decided to buy this car over the Prius in Worthington Ford of Long Beach CA, Ask for Sam and Ike if you go there. The Cmax hybrid had higher Horsepower than the Prius with the capability of reaching 47mpg, I've put 860 miles as of 10/12/2012 and my first time in the freeway I did 38-40mpg to San Diego California, driving at 80 mph average, in city driving at 45mph on a 40mph street I can acheive 47-53mpg's in flat surface, in my usual route to college with one hill on the way i've reached 43-47.3 mpg's, when stepping on the car and driving fast i reach 32-35mpg's overall, the lifetime for my car mpg's is 42 mpg's.

I bought this vehicle 1 year old because I didn't like the visibility of the Prius after test-driving it. Visibility is great! I drive almost 30K miles a year so gas mileage was a major consideration. Although it's been a challenge getting used to a low profile car - you really need to understand this if you've only driven SUVs or traditional cars - take major adjusting. Performance is wonderful, mostly all around. My 3 major problems are with the bluetooth/navigation system, recalls and climate control. I have an iPhone and the software for this car is Microsoft. I have to reset the whole speaker/phone/bluetooth system much too often for my taste. It just doesn't work as it should. Sometimes you cannot disconnect a call and frequently, you cannot answer another call unless you end the first. And the number of recalls has been incredible. I would say about 8 in a 2 year old period and unfortunately, Ford does not make the recall process easy. Unless you have an incredibly understanding dealer, your car is gone for the day with you footing the bill for a loaner. There have been times that I've gone in for 2 recalls at the same time and when I picked up the car, service had only completed 1 because parts and pieces were not available. Climate control works but is incredibly annoying. If you are on the lowest fan for heat or A/C and turn off the temperature control, when you turn it back on it's on full fans again. No matter how well it drives and handles. I don't know if I would buy one again because of these 3 issues.

My First and Last Ford

After dealing with numerous recalls and technological glitches, I am finally throwing in the towel on my 2013 C-Max (I've had it for a year). As others have pointed out, the MPG was grossly exaggerated by Ford. At the moment, I'm dealing with relatively minor issues (i.e. entertainment system sporadically stops working, center console won't close, trunk lift gate doesn't work, warning lights randomly go on and off). It is both inconvenient and frustrating to take the car in for repairs all of the time. My last straw - last time I took it in, I returned to find the dealership showing my car to prospective customers (literally sitting in my car with my personal belongings on display).
