Not my Vanagon but pretty darn good

Bought this one the first day of the bailout when Chrysler said they'd match the C4C money. Traded in my 86 Vanagon and got a $29K van for $17,5. I never thought I'd buy a chrysler product and really loved my VW, but there were a lot of things that needed fixing and with a new baby I wanted something safer for her. I test drove the Japanese and Korean vans and I can't see why anyone would pay 2X as much for one of them. Stow and Go is the single greatest feature. I've already hauled full sheets of plywood in the van and also carried 7 people on a moments notice. We'll see what happens in terms of reliability but I've driven 2 1000 mile trips and it's been great.

Well here it goes, your 13 yr 202k review. Brakes, we don't need no stinking good brakes. Replace every 24k miles, you'll be fine. Wheel bearings, just do those every other brake job you'll be fine. Seeing a trend yet. Engine and tranny good, no big issues. Electrical, starting to act up but have found a major problem. Wire from engine compartment thru driver side door chafes and either breaks or shorts out causing electrical stroke on dash warning lights, wipers, lights, etc. Fix that and problems go away. Rust is now eating van because I live in armpit of U.S. upstate NY where salt is our #1 product. Gear shift selector acting up for 2nd time and we'll see if Stellantis honors their lifetime warranty which they did not do for my rusty oil pan. Power from 3.3 adequate at best but the small motor leaves lots of space to work on things if needed, which it hasn't. Great versatility, the best! Does the things a van is supposed to do better than any other and even some pickups. Gas mileage so so. Larger motor probably would do better especially with 6sp tranny rather than 4sp in base van. Seats ok in front, lousy in middle, ok out back. Oh did I mention brakes and wheel bearings! All in all the van has been a pleasant surprise for lasting this long without stranding us anywhere. And a disappointment for the added expense of brakes and wheel bearings. Oh and Dodge/ Chrysler dealers aren't the best when it comes to customer satisfaction. 3 stars------ wish I could give it more. Lastly, when purchased new in 2/09 the deal was the reason for the buy. 0% for 4 yrs. Lifetime powertrain warranty, good trade in for my 2002 Mazda MPV, rebate and discount on van. Money talked and I listened. But brakes and bearings have made a great deal only a good one. Currently have 215k and the end is getting near. Lately have other niggling little problems like a check engine light that comes on then goes off by itself after a few weeks of driving. Van probably has a heater core issue because I get heat but things fog up inside unless I put ac on. My dash lights come and go making night time driving an adventure and my left rear blinker needs a good smack when it doesn't work. Hoping to keep it alive for just a bit more. Unfortunately I forgot to bring it into my not so friendly Stellantis dealer last yr. for its required 5 yr. powertrain warranty inspection so now I'm toast if any of the big things go. However, the van has lived a good and fruitful life so ce la vie.

This 2009 Dodge Caravan SXT is the third Caravan I have owned. They all were long term cars for me, 10-15 years with over 160,000 miles on them. Never had any major issues with any of them. The 2009 Caravan now has 120,000 trouble free miles on it. It has the 400 engine and the only required major maintenance was at 100,000 miles which was the timing belt, plugs, and water pump. This is a great versatile automobile. Great for road trips with seven passenger capacity and with the stole-and-go feature, you have plenty of room to haul things. On my road trips, it is has alway been good on gas, 25-27 mpg. Over all, a great car to have…

I bought this van three years ago for $1700, with 186k miles on it. I'm now at 207+. I replaced the brakes and calipers and front window regulator. I have a minor oil and coolant leak, but they're manageable. I don't understand the hate about this vehicle. The fold-down seats are convenient for transporting my bike and moving. The van handles great. Mpg is reasonable. I get my oil changed every 4000 miles. It's starting to rust on the lower driver door, but I plan to drive this van until the engine or transmission give out. I'm thinking 300k.🤞
