Used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Consumer Reviews
Do not buy - bad lifters and bent pushrod
Like others have reported, my 2021 Silverado LTZ experienced lifter failure which resulted in a bent pushrod. The dealer took care of me quickly, but after asking multiple times, GM did not authorize them to replace BOTH banks of lifters, only the bank which failed at 35,000 miles. I really liked that truck, but no longer trusted it to take me well past the warranty periods. I decided to trade it and I am in a Ram 1500 Laramie. I won't be going back to GM trucks over this experience.

Awesome 2.7 litre
I absolutely love this 2021 Silverado. It’s much better that the 4.3 V6. It’s good on gas and it moves pretty quick.

Very dismayed
First, the good. Love the looks of this truck. Drives very nicely and very well appointed. Rides and turns better than my 2018 Ford F-150. I really did like this truck until it left me stranded 400 miles from home in western Montana when what turned out to be a disintegrated pushrod disabled the engine. The dealer rebuilt one side of the engine and things were going well ( after 5 weeks in the shop). Unfortunately after another 1500 miles, the same thing happened. It is now 14 weeks after the first incident and I finally picked up my truck and it runs well so far. My truck has a little over 7000 miles on it and I live in fear that something else will go wrong. I travel in very desolate areas of central and northern Montana and breakdowns in the winter can be life threatening. I always carry full survival gear and a weeks worth of food and water. Probably the most distressing thing is that the service managers reply to me when I quipped that I was very upset about the quality or lack there of with Chevy was, “ these kind of things happen more often than you think”. I’m definitely going to look at Toyota and Ford when my wife gets a truck next year. My advice is stay far away from Chevy until they figure out how to build an engine that doesn’t disintegrate. Maybe they can start by building it in America instead of Mexico. Also stay away from GM stock because I can’t believe they can remain solvent with the trucks they build. One bright note is this has to be one of the safest vehicles I’ve ever owned as it is near impossible to get in any kind of accident with it when it sits in the shop for weeks on end. Also as an update, I just noticed that the 1500 Silverado and it’s GMC cousin sit in first place on the list of least reliable vehicles for 2021 according to Consumer Reports.

Nice ride
This is my 5th Silverado!!! This one is the 1500 LT double cab 4cylinder turbo…Great truck all around A lot of compliments. Rides really nice and get 20-23 gpm back and fourth to work.
Tow Package Lacking
I bought a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, mainly as a tow vehicle for my RV camper. The Silverado had the tow package, so I figured it would be adequately equipped. However, I came to find out the fuel tank is only 24 gallons; in all my past trucks the tow package included a 36 gallon tank. There is not even an option to put a 36 gallon tank on the truck--I was told by my Chevy dealer that the way the Silverado is designed, there's not enough room to accommodate a larger tank. So, when hauling my camper, I'm forced to stop every couple of hours to refuel. Annoying! Also I had a backup camera installed on my camper. When I connected the camper to the Silverado's electrical cord, the camera read "no image". I contacted the back-up camera's manufacturer and was told the 2021 Silverado's electrical cord is not sufficiently powered to support the back-up camera. To get the back-up camera to work, I need to purchase another electrical cord to boost the power (an $80 item) however, this cord has been on back order for months, is not currently available, and it is unknown when it will be available. I'm extremely disappointed in this tow package because of the small fuel tank & the lack of sufficient power to use a back-up camera on a camper.
Huge improvement from previous trucks I've owned..
The Silverado is well equipped in even in it's basic trim. The build quality is great, ride and handling are awesome and it feels like you are riding in a luxury car.

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Problems
The vehicle reports a P2002 error code relating to a partially blocked Diesel Particulate Filter. The test procedure is performed by placing a cheese cloth over the exhaust port, running a high idle and then inspecting the cloth for soot. While there is never any soot the "MIL" remains "on" with this code. Tried different Chevrolet repair shops playing swap that part. Eighteen months latter, still no fix.

Rotars and Brakes
Rotars and brakes went at 18,500 miles calling it environmental concerns. The vehicle is used for personal use and never towed anything. Paid $1000 to get it repaired as chevy wouldn't cover it under there warranty.
