Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsLots of strange sounds coming from under the hood: gurgle, buzz, whoosh! I feel like I'm conducting an experiment rather than testing an SUV. Even with the traction control disabled, there's no chance of tire spin off the line. I expected a more aggressive launch with all the available torque of the electric motor. Otherwise, pretty quick and uneventful runs that got slower with each successive run.
Braking ratingAverage
Braking commentsLots of gravelly tire noise under full-ABS stops. Pedal goes noticeably firm(er) but still travels almost to the floor. Good fade resistance.
Handling ratingAverage
Handling commentsSkid pad: Stabilitrak can be fully disabled, and the vehicle puts a ton of weight on the outside front tire here. Steering is predictably light and uninformative. Understeers heavily on the limit. Slalom: With Stabilitrak off, the vehicle tends to wag its tail but is just shy of oversteer. Steering is (again) very light and video game-like. "Throttle" response is very good and helps at the exit.
