Perfect for us

2020 Buick Envision Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)

We looked for months for an affordable AWD vehicle that had the safety technology we wanted, had plenty of power and a smooth, quiet ride. Though Buick was never on our radar and we had never heard of the Envision, we test drove one and were hooked. We purchased an Envision Premium which had everything we weren't going to do without plus a Bose sound system that we really wanted. We love the power of the 2.0 turbo. Other vehicles may have better reviews from the "experts" but the best choice is always the one that fits a person's wants and needs. The Envision is perfect for us.

2020 Buick Envision Preferred 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl 6A)

The Buick Envision all Luxury but priced so that just about anyone can afford it. It comes in a preferred pkg which I purchased and had a lot of options at a affordable price and other options at higher prices for people who want the higher end Bells and Whistles. Powerful get up and go, comfort to the max, heated seats, navigation, and very roomy.

2019 Buick Envision Essence 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl 6A)

This is a beautiful vehicle inside and out. It is super quiet and has great road feel for an SUV. We drove a GMC Terrain as well and were quite surprised by how big a difference there was between these two vehicles. The Envision feels much more luxurious and has great features for the price. If you are thinking about a mid-size SUV do not overlook this Buick! The 2.5L 4-cylinder is slightly underpowered so if you can afford to step up to the Premium trim and acceleration is important to you, you should definitely consider spending the extra money. However, if acceleration isn't critical and you are mostly driving around town the Essence offers a very luxurious vehicle that handles well and gets good gas mileage. After 6 months and 9,000 miles, nothing has changed.

While I loved my CTS once I got it moving, tired of trying to get in and out of my low slung 2013 CTS, and averaging only 16 mpg in town with the 3.0 liter AWD. Plus acceleration was not all that smooth when you hit the gas. Would rev up, then start moving. Time for a crossover. Test drove Q5, X3, a small Infiniti, Edge, Escape, next on my list was CX5, and MKC. Decided, to look at the Envision, just to cross it off the list for possible consideration. I drove the Preferred FWD. Liked the ride. Seats very comfortable. Especially like that head restraints, and lumbar support, both adjust up and down, and fore and aft. Love outside driver side mirror is auto dimming. Didn't have that on the CTS. Also, this has the same turning circle as the CTS. My biggest concern was the 2.5 liter is said to be under powered. I don't find that at all. It has better, and smoother acceleration than my CTS had. However, may be because with the high compression ratio (11.3:1), I began to use Premium. Owner manual says to use 87 octane "or higher". Average 20-22 in the suburbs, and easily low 30s on the highway. My record driving in western Michigan was 36 mpg on the highway. Well worth the higher price of premium, which if you buy at Costco, about the same as regular at the corner gas station. Being older, always heard the higher the compression ratio, higher octane fuel needed. This is just a guess, but those who say the 2.5 is under powered are experiencing the electronics reducing the power to restrict knocking that may be caused by w/ 87 octane. Update January 19, 2021 at Edmund's invitation (first, a clarification, my car is a 2018, not 2019.): I wish I could say I was happy. However, battery/electrical problems have cropped up. A few months after taking delivery, my car needed to be jumped. Battery had a dead cell. Replaced under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. No big deal I thought, just a bad part installed. I also told the service advisor of a weird occurrence. I was stopped at a light, it changed, I began to proceed, and car died. Dash board lit up like Las Vegas at night. It started back up, so I thought I just went to fast from break to gas pedal, and auto start/stop needed time?. Service advisor said just drive it more, it needs to learn your driving style. Yeah, right, but it never happened again so I forgot about it. Then, this past summer, I noticed the auto start/stop was not doing it's job, and it was all the time, even if the AC was not turned on (if on "LO", it doesn't work). I mentioned that when I took it in for an oil change, and they said I just needed to drive it more. She has a job, and has to drive, but the rest of us without a job are expected to pay for gas to just drive around going nowhere, during a pandemic when few places are open? Insulting. Then this past fall, I go down to my car (I park in an underground garage in my condo complex), hit the start button, just clicking noise. Call Roadside assistance, and they jumped car. Said to drive it around for a while, which I did. Seemed to solve problem. Then about a month later, same thing, go down to my garage. Clicking again. Roadside assistance came out, same drill. A few weeks later, same experience/drill. A week after, again, same experience, the third no-start. Get out of the car to go to ground level to use phone to call roadside assistance, hit the lock button on remote, and the dash lights all of a sudden, look like Vegas again. Get inside, try to start, just clicking. I open door, stay inside, close door, hit start button, starts right up. Call a different Buick dealer about leaving it there for them to look at. Dismissive attitude, without looking at it, just said I need to drive it more. Again, we're in a pandemic. Where do I go? Then, 4th no start a few weeks later. This time, do same sequence, get out, lock, get back in, no start, open then close door, get chirp fob inside, hit start, starts right up. BTW, roadside assistance will only provide 3 (or 4?) jumps a month. Called a Chevy dealer. Yes they service Buicks. Great service advisor, says what they will do, then asks, where do I park. Told him. Asks if this happen when parked outside. Never. He says they are seeing more no-starts with people who park in enclosed garages with multiple cars. The signals from the electronics continue when parked, and possibly cars are getting confused. They found this battery had a dead cell. 3rd battery in less than 3 yrs. No wonder Buick reduced bumper-to-bumper warranty by a year on new models, as not covered under powertrain warranty. Update 19 Jul. 2021. Car has been starting, no jumps needed. Recently was unable to drive for almost 3 weeks, and car started right up. Everything is working (no thanks to Howard or Sullivan Buick). Thank you Bredemann Chevrolet in Park Ridge, IL. for giving me my car back.

the good, the bad, the ugly

2019 Buick Envision Premium II 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)

No car is perfect. This is better than most. Good--surround cameras, heads up, ability to disable the automatic engine shut off at every stop. The bad--center console is useless (no smart phone), glove box too shallow. Adaptive features are mixed reviews. The Buick spots the car ahead at slower speeds and slows down easily. At faster speeds it does not slow down fast enough, need to manually break before it rear ends the other car. The ugly? Still looking for that!
