4 years in a wonderful car!
i suggest potential buyers shop with dealers that don't have a no haggle price program (aka fixed at MSRP). I sold my 2015 BMW M235i 4 years ago to get a Honda CRV. Every time I take off from a stop light I lament that decision. Dave

Great BMW Coupe
I’ve had my m235i for 4 years now. It’s still fun to drive and I’ve owned a lot of used German sports cars. I was looking at a 1 series but found this before prices went up and it’s a real drivers car that in comfort mode is mellow and easy to drive but hit sports plus and it reminds me of my long forgotten 1989 Porsche 944T which says a lot. Maintenance is something that like most cars in this class can be $$ but I’m at 65K and nothing too big has come up. Highly recommended!

Avoid water in your BMW
I loved the car, at 13,000 miles, I drove thru a flooded (8"-10" deep) street ; the car stopped and locked up. After getting towed to dealer on flatbed, I was told the car had hydrolock, the engine sucked in water. The cost of new engine ... $20,000. Why would BMW design an engine with the air intake 10" off the ground ? Doesn't it rain in Germany ? I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with this sad event. Why wasn't I told of the cars sensitivity to standing water ? I'm done with BMW !

Fun and thrifty to own
This has been a fun car to drive. Very quick. Handles like it is on rails. Great on gas in eco mode and in a standard mode of driving. When you put your foot down both turbos quickly come on board and your pushed to the back of the seat without any torque steer and only a slight raise of the front end. This car has been a pleasure to own.

The perfect size BMW
Handles great and the turbo in line 4 engine is just the right size for this car. I have no need to do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds; 5.5 is plenty fast enough. This thing moves. Some options should really come as standard features for the price. But the driving experience is so rewarding it makes it worth it. Time will tell how the top and folding mechanism hold up. And AWD in a small convertible is a plus in the Northeast! Relatively sparse interior, but it works.

2 Series Msport BMW like BMW of Old
This car handles great and quick. Fun to drive. Like a boxer with a fold down back seat or a cayman with a drunk and sunroof. Plus you save $1000's.

Fun baby M
25k trouble free miles. Solid blend of enough performance for the heavy footed and comfy enough for the long road trip. Like all M series autos maintenance and parts are more $$.

Needs Little to be Perfect!
Purchased the car used with 33k. All service records available with nothing replace except the tires, wiper blades and a new battery. Rag top is original and in excellent condition. I have had it a year now and the only issues I have with BMW is they used to much plastic in the engine bay. I have replaced the “Mickey Mouse” coolant hose flange since it was plastic with an aluminum one. Charge pipe is next. Has a plastic valve cover, a plastic oil and transmission pan. Purchased an extended warranty for 3 years. Last service they said the rear output shaft was “weeping”. According to the dictionary weeping is leaking but the warranty provider said weeping was different than leaking. They also say in their warranty that if you fail to take the necessary actions to prevent a problem was getting worse they can refuse to honor the warranty. BMW went right along with them. Car is great but I wonder about BMW. Don’t believe BMW said s their cars can go 10,000 miles or more before oil changes. Don’t believe BMW when they say “ Life Time Transmission Fluid” either. I spoke to ZF the transmission manufacture and they basically said that was ‘Bull”. It should be changed between 50k and 80k. So there you have it. I have owned many BMW’s and some are better than others. But this little 2-series is one of 5he best. If it only had the B58 engine it would be perfect.

It’s just the perfect size
The most appealing thing about this car is what you get in its compact size. The fact that it has xDrive means you can drive it year round, even in areas that get snow (as long as you have appropriate tires). The “non-Mcar, but M-Sport package” provides sports car styling and the in-line 4 engine has enough hp and torque to give it a sporty feel but it’s not quite a sports car. The small overall size of the car is fantastic - nice and compact but not too small. It’s just the right size if you mostly drive it alone or with 2 people, as the rear seats are small - but it’s still good to be able to carry 4 passengers, if you need to. If buying used or CPO, definitely look for xenon lighting package (this car needs it), heated seats/wheel, and parking distance sensors as the rear windshield is tiny (but at least it’s glass). The one thing no one seems to mention is the small gas tank - at 13.7 gallons, you’ll find yourself filling it up pretty often, despite the fact that it gets pretty decent mileage. Interior is focused on function so it’s pretty sparse. While I wish the screen was integrated into the dash (kind of has the appearance of a small tablet mounted to the dash), it’s functional and intuitive. The base 228i doesn’t come with much, so choose your options carefully or it will add up quickly and out price itself compared to other cars in its class. But I am completely satisfied and hope to keep this car for a long time.
