You can file a complaint with the government agency that watches over recalls for safety issues like this http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov Jetta is more than just sluggish, as some of its reviewers have stated, it is down right unsafe. FYI, I have 2010 Jetta TDI w/ 110K miles. Engine light came on and was coding particulate filter. Dealer said would cost $4800. Took it to an independent, confirmed the code for particulate filter but volume of exhaust was still strong. Investigated further and replaced exhaust filter behind DPF. Fixed. $380 vs $4800
Hi. I've a 2010 Jetta on a lease which is up in Oct. Some s.o.b. keyed me across both driver side doors and the rear panel. Also someone hit the car in the parking lot which messed up the rear bumper enough to need replacing. A good repair place will fix all for $1200 plus tax. If I just return the car to VW at the end of the lease, how ... Read More

In hopes this helps others who have had this sort of problem: My 2010 Jetta TDI manual has been hesitating since I purchased it new. Something very similar just happened to me while driving a 2010 Jetta LTD. The check battery light came on for a few seconds, then the car stalled. You mean she feels a momentary "dead pedal"? Yeah, that has plagued any number of cars with electronic throttles. I've seen various aftermarket fixes, but not yet for a VW TDI. Apparently you can wire in a different sensor to the gas pedal, which must vary the signal to the throttle controls.

The "repair" bill is outrageous at $6,000 but on other accounts owners have reported that $10,000 has been closer to the bottom line. I stopped into my VW dealer a couple days ago. I wanted to see the White gold metallic color. The sales person told me they are expecting the 2011 Tiguan to be offered with the 2.0L TDI. That will get my attention. You are also right about comparing gas to diesel. It is a poor example as there is NO comparison to the driving. And you will get the extra back ... Read More
Here's another data point for the actual numbers on JSW TDI sales. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/volkswagen-of-america-announces-42-perce- - nt-increase-for-april-sales-and-a-10th-consecutive-month-of-growth-92694134.html- - Looks like 84%!
I was actually curious if the sales of VWs offering the TDI approaches anywhere near 80% of total sales of those models. I'm sure it isn't quite that high but wonder if anyone has a handle on the actual numbers?
According to the Elias TDI Bureau, 80% of VW buyers wish they could get a TDI but many of those folks have to settle for the gas VW.
I would never buy a gas VW. About 80% of buyers agree Is that just a personal opinion or is that the actual sales breakdown?
Then you are stuck driving the gas version. Unless you get the turbo charged model. Then you have to buy Premium gas. I would never buy a gas VW. About 80% of buyers agree.
We had a 2006 Jetta 2.5 with the same problem. Would be driving along and the power would cut out for up to 15-20 seconds. First time is was on the freeway at 80 mph. Had it into the shop 3 times. I was never able to reproduce the problem. Once we drove from California to Montana and back no problems for the entire trip until we were 10 miles from ... Read More
I bought 2010 Jetta TDI model with auto transmission, Sun roof, 17'' Avignon alloy wheels, Rubber mat kit and Ipod interface. MSRP is $26,554 (+destination charge), and I paid $740 under MSRP. After tax & fee, it was $28,700.. and I bought 6yr 100k mile extended warranty at $2000. This is my first VW... I am happy with my Jetta :)
Dear MJ...you asked for advice, so here goes...don't deal on any 2010 Jetta right now. Their MSRP plus some scammy $$$$ extra charge is not really the issue, you know you are getting Sc#%@ed no matter what, they know it, we all know it. But here's the thing, VW is determined to go head to head with the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Hyundai Sonota sized cars and the current Jetta ... Read More
I got a quote on 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen S Automatic W/Rear Side Air Bags for $20.301 in Chicago area. How is this price? What is the real world MPG on gasoline models?
Do you use both feet when you drive? Before you answer the question drive around for a few days and notice. After get back to me with your answer.
That kinda makes sense to me... with all the 'scares' at Toyota... the automakers are adding all kinds of 'safetys' into their products. I wonder if one of the built-in safety features is kickin in and overriding the throttle pedal. Did you know that VW has a 'stuck throttle' safety built in? (VW has had this for over 15 years) Try this... with engine idling in neutral/park put LEFT foot on ... Read More
Correction, mine is a 2009 Jetta TDI (sedan). I found some info on another site that may be my problem... Some people report hesitation from a stop when the car has a DSG transmission. This is reported to be worst when you are stopped, foot on brake, and quickly step hard on the accelerator pedal. This is believed to be from the DSG clutches slipping. To minimize it, after you take ... Read More
I have a 2010 Jetta TDI and recently had what sounds like exactly the same problem. It has happened 5-6 times in past 2 weeks. Mostly when I'm stopped at a light, or pulling into traffic from a parking lot, etc. When light turned green I hit the accelerator and the car moved about 5-10 feet forward, then the accelerator just went dead. No power whatsoever for about 2-3 seconds. The ... Read More

Here's the information that you're looking for, chuck10553. You never mentioned how long you want to lease for or what mileage allowance you need, so I had to make some assumptions. Let me know if you want something different. VW Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 Jetta Sedan SE with 15,000 miles per year are .00077 and 53%, respectively ... Read More
I sat in the new 2010 Jetta Sportwagen. It was very comfortable. The only VW seats I liked better are the Golf GTI. My question, if it is a Jetta Sportwagen here and a Golf Estate in the UK. Do they have the same seats as the Golf TDI sold here. They did not have a Golf TDI to check out. They sell before they are unloaded here. Another plus for ... Read More
On my 2006 Jetta you squeeze the black plastic grill that covers the Fog Lamp spots in the front grill. By putting the pressure on it by hand it will come off and the spot for the big screw in eye bolt is behind it. You can put the grill back on with the eye bolt still in place, it just looks like crap. I have always thought that the Jetta ... Read More
I just purchased a 2010 Jetta TDI Cup Edition from Pete Moore Imports (Volkswagen Dealership) in Pensacola, Florida this past Saturday. To say I stole the car might be pretty much in line with what I paid. They blew the other 35 dealers on the east coast away that I was inquiring with on TDI's for the past month of research on them. I traveled 1,000 miles round trip to trade ... Read More
