I doubt that my next car will be a VW unless they realize they have regressed and correct their error.
My 2 cents worth on your question is this...if you can't live without a VW, be patient until the 2011 larger version of the Jetta shows up later this fall and have a look. Gatorfan, your post puts to bed a lot of speculation and confusion about the "when" for the 2010 Jettas. I finalized the deal with a dealership on a 2009 Jetta S manual transmission with 0 money down (everything rolled into the monthly pmt) for $245/month or about $1150 below Edmund's listed invoice + destination. When I was calling VW Credit and asking them questions ... Read More
Good morning!! I have a 2006 Jetta TDI and absolutely love it!! I wanted a diesel for it's gas mileage mainly as I drive 105 mi./day round trip to work. Even when diesel was at it's highest I still did better than with regular gas. I normally get 44-47 mi/gallon. If I do a lot of in town driving or idling to let it warm up in the mornings it goes ... What happens if you come in at a B tier rate? I have 3 years of, on time, lease payments (turning in my 2006 passat lease) Do you think VW credit would take this into account and extend me the courtesy for my MF (the dealership is not helping)
This post is in response to an earlier one that suggested the Accord as an alternative to the GLI. I had a top of the line 2003 Accord coupe (first model year of the previous generation) with the V6 (and auto tranny unfortunately) just prior to my 2006 GLI with Pkg 2 and DSG, so I'm in a good position to compare the cars. Their missions and strengths are very different, ... Read More
Drove an 09 TDI. Not fond of the DSG or spongy suspension. Wife has DSG in her A3 - worried about signs of wear that we're seeing at 25k miles (lots of clutch slipping). Wish the VW dealer had a TDI wagon 6 MT on the lot as I'd like to know how that car feels to really drive. The sedan isn't really an option as I already view the TDI ... Read More
prove what I said before. In 2006 VW lost 160 billion euros You have not proven anything. Where is your link that claims VW lost 160 Billion Euros? That much would bankrupt any car maker. That is almost twice what Toyota is worth.
Sorry to prove youíre wrong again, the financial data on that link just prove what I said before. In 2006 VW lost 160 billion euros, today they are achieving 3.43 billions euro. Do you see what I see? How long will it take for VW to make up for the lost money? Have you been investing money on the market or you just read the headlines? Another thing that you do ... Read More
I think you're wrong, I am talking about the operation in USA not in Europe or Japan where these two manufacturers operate as there own home of origin. Bellow is a link that will show you that VW need to do more to be profitable for once they need to educate their dealers, they are arrogant et they donít know how to deal with the customer; and that is the biggest ... you will need to keep driving that car for 16 years before you get all your money back. I just picked this as an example of the error in your post. I bought a 2005 Passat TDI in April 2005 when diesel was more than gas up in Portland Oregon. I sold it in San Diego in May of 2006 for $3000 more than I paid for it new. That point ... Read More
I agree with you analogy, but I am looking at the data in the past 5 years. The difference in price between diesel and gasoline is widening every year. It is true that the value of Jetta diesel went to the roof, and we all know the reason is the conversion kit that people they buy for about $3000 to make their car run on biodiesel or vegetable oil. But even ... Read More
I suggest contacting and negotiating with dealers via Internet and email only. In this manner you are usually dealing with only the sales manager or Internet sales manager, thus bypassing the lot lizards. VW of America and Canada web site has a tool that helps you locate vehicles you want, so you do not have to go fishing all over your region. I bought the exact 2006 Jetta TDI that I ... Read More
Hi, I have a 2005.5 New Jetta 2.5 Automatic and I had the same problem, it started at about 9,500 miles and was only a hard shift from 1 to 2 gear and got worse where it was hard shifting from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 so at about 14,000 I started having the dealer look at it at first they said it was the control box and that ... A5 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 2005.5, 2006 clutch failure. On Nov 1 2007, VWoA issued Tech Bulletin 2016615. This extends the warranty on Sachs clutch components to 4 yrs/50,000 miles. Copy of Tech Bulletin here: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/images/pdf/vw_tb_30-07-01.pdf Recently had my 06 TDI clutch go at 16,585 miles. Dealer couldn't find this Tech Bulletin until I handed them a printed copy. Under warranty, VW paid for new clutch, and rental car.
Sadly, no TDi for the "City" lineup. I was told (in 2006) they were committed to the City cars for three years so that explains why, I suppose - they were awaiting the updated diesel motor. Funnily enough, if you look at the VW Canada sales statistics (see www.pocketrocket.ca), the Mk4 City Golf is the biggest seller - with the Mk5 Matrix-Rabbit and the Mk5 Corolla-Jetta close behind. The Mk4 City ... Read More
All I can tell you is I was a happy man when I found out (in 2006) that I could still buy a Mk4 Jetta. I really dislike the Mk5 Corolla-Jetta - I'm sure it's a good car but if I wanted a Toyota I'd buy one from them. The best part about the "City" line is not the price but the fact that you can get one without all the ... Read More
I need a owners Manual for a 2006 vw Jetta. How do I find one?
I'm not sure. In fact they are already out. Just go to www.VW.com. Now dose anyone know where to go to get a owners manual for a 2006 VW Jetta? I purchased the vehicle and it didn't come with the Owners manual. And I cant find one anywhere. Dose anyone know how to get a owners Manual for a 2006 VW Jetta? It would be a big help.
Sweet! Thanks Roy, that was quick. I'm contacting that dealer today, everybody. I'll get the VW service bulletin number for this problem so the rest of you can take that number to the dealer and get your brakes fixed. I have a 2006 Jetta, and my front pads have 75% pad left, while the rear are cutting rotor. Mileage? 65,000.... but 50,000 of those are all highway miles without me stepping ... Read More
I have disconnected the batteries in my 2004 Passat and 2006 Jetta TDI's numerous times and have never experienced the problem you are describing. I know bpeebles knows the older model Jetta much better than I do, but my experience is that after re-connecting the batteries the on-board VW computers reset themselves to the most recent programming prior to disconnect.
