• 1997 LeSabre Alternator Whine

  Does anyone else have a pronounced whine coming from the alternator, noticible until you shift into high? You can hear each shift, whine goes down as rpm's fall. I had a similar noise in my 1994 but less loud. The alternator seems to be working ok. Has anyone installed a new or rebuilt alternator because of this problem and has the noise gone away.   I had the same experience as boat4 in not finding any responsiveness from Buick or my local dealers in purchasing a 2000 Limited model. I placed a factory order back in August. After waiting three months (I was told the hold-up was because I wanted the Driver Confidence Package) I cancelled the factory order with the local dealer and instead faxed written requests to about a dozen dealers around the state ...
