Used 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Consumer Reviews
Garbage
Looks like a nice car but it's been nothing but problems and it hasn't even been a year. On a road trip and got an error message that my airbags weren't working. I've gone to the dealer twice now saying I hear a clunking from front left side. They said it's nothing. Now today, I'm told I have broken sway bars. It hasn't driven smoothly since I've had it for about 3 months. I'm disappointed and don't think I'll ever purchase another VW. Update: there is now a recall for the steering issue I told was "nothing"

Huge disappointment
On the first day of a cross country trip, my 2020 Atlas Cross Sport with 7000 miles broke down last week with engine/transmission problem (per dealer “possibly” issue with the throttle body). At this point, I am waiting for details and am currently renting a car at my own cost. VW Roadside Assistance and VW Concierge have been less than helpful other than for the towing. I am already out several hundred dollars for hotels and rental. VW Concierge keeps emphasizing that “reimbursements for expenses .. are not guaranteed” and referred me to VW customer service.

VW & their dealer World VW of NJ is a bit NUTZ
As you know I have previously owned many VW’s throughout the years and never had any major issues. I am writing you today concerning my engine consuming oil At around 7000 miles the oil light came on I called and spoke to Greg and he said to bring it in, and he looked at it and oil was low so he topped it off. Greg also said that its normal for VW engines to burn oil and I should ride around with oil and every week top it off. Greg also said after we do your first oil change that I should bring it back around 1000 miles after and World VW will perform an oil consumption test We did that test yesterday 2/11/2021 Dylan being the service manager, and the results were that after driving 1400 miles since the first oil change the car consumed .73 qts and he said that’s normal. I did some quick math and based on that info determined that between every oil change the car will burn 5.2 QTS of oil and Dylan said that is correct according to VW. I said that is absurd and Dylan gave me the 800 VW cust service # to call which I did and got absolutely nowhere. So I called Dylan back and he couldn’t believe that, so he said he was going to call them for me and he was sure that I would get some better service. Never received call. Today I tried VW cust srv again thru instant message and basically was told they were not the experts, maybe that’s why the engines burn oil? Maybe the engineers who designed the engine weren’t experts as well. VW cust service is telling me that you at World VW have to deem this excessive. Very interesting as you have this document created by VW saying that this is normal. I asked to get an impartial expert mechanic and get their opinion and was told no can do. If you tell this to anyone they will agree that this is ridiculous and VW is trying to cover themselves. I never experienced this with any other VW engine I had, maybe I was lucky ? This obviously is a challenged engine which VW needs to stand behind. Would you buy a car if someone told you that it will burn ½ Qt oil every 600 miles? You don’t have to answer that because I know your answer and don’t want to hear the VW answer as of course you drink the VW Kool Aid

Looks are Deceiving
Bought my 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport in July 2020. Looks great, drives great and interior design is very roomy. The performance of the car is terrible. Stabilizer bars were replaced shortly after buying the car. Since the fall of 2021 I have had the car in the shop multiple times because the "Check Engine" light keeps going on. It is now in the shop for an indefinite period awaiting parts to "fix" this problem. As I was taking the car in for this repair the "Check Air Bag" light went on. I am told the electrical harness needs to be replaced and there is an indefinite wait before that part will be available. I have no idea how long it will be before the car is returned. I have no confidence in its future performance when I get it back. I plan on replacing it with something other than a VW when I get it back.
Thanks Edmunds Consumer Reviewers
SEL V6 I was considering replacing 2016 Explorer Limited with 2020 model but wasn't really motivated given the price even after big discount from MFRP (Manufactures Fake Retail Price). We have a Jetta and Passat and like them so I looked up Atlas Cross Sport on Edmunds. Expert Review was good and Consumer reviews convinced me to take a look. I bought one the same day. Styling is great. Black with black wheels. My test drive had me convinced before I got out of dealer lot. Good low end torque, super smooth transmission, and spirited engine sound. Great ride and precise tight steering considering its size. Fun Facts: The German built 3.6L narrow-angle V6 also known as the VR6 has been used in Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini albeit in a slightly different configuration. They get 2 VR6 paired resulting in the W12 engine.
