2022 Volkswagen ID.4
My only experience with a ID-4 so far is a brief test drive where the dealer resolved to keep one available for this purpose. In this time I found the car quite comfortable, and enjoyable to drive. I prefer the first drive mode in which when I lift my foot from the accelorator the car will coast freely like putting my stick shift HHR out of gear. Regenerative braking starts with … the brake pedal, and is proportional with the pressure applied to the pedal. On the Interstate it was smooth and silent at speed, and acceleration from 60 to 77 (without "flooring it") was more than adequate for any reasonable attempt to pass a truck on a two lane road. My fiance also likes the car, but was not impressed with the plastic in the interior, a item more much important to her than to me. Overall I like the ID-4, I think i would be happy with one.
I have narrowed the field for my first all electric car to the VW ID-4, the Chevrolet Bolt, and the Kia Niro. I have yet to test drive the latter two.
