2024 Toyota Prius Prime
Traded in my 2023 Toyota Tacoma for this 2024 Prius Prime as we had to move to the suburbs of LA for family reasons. On top of that had to commute very long miles each day so thought the Prius Prime would be the best option. Did not want to go entirely EV for range anxiety. So far have been extremely happy with this purchase. This vehicle is smooth, quick and so far has been getting … rear mileage. I drive about 140 miles per day and only have to fill up once a week (If I can’t charge regularly)….. this car is built for LA traffic with stop and go and that’s where this vehicle excels. Ride is comfortable and this car is “quick”…. gets on the freeways with no problem at 220 HP. Much improved over former Prius Prime. Getting 44-45 miles on each charge which is another big improvement from previous generations of Primes.
Only several negatives is not sure why they don’t have a review wiper in rearview window…. also no spare tire which I know they didn’t place one for gas mileage but the confidence of knowing you have a spare if you really need one is good. Went ahead and bought one. Highly recommend this vehicle.
UPDATE: This is honestly the best car I've ever owned. I drive 140 miles round trip everyday for work ( had to move closer to family) on the S. California LA-San Diego corridor and thank God I have this car. It is truly a road warrior as it glides down the freeway. Handling/speed/ comfort are all there. My wife doesn't like driving it as she feels to close to the ground but it doesn't bother me and I feel safe with all the Semis and trucks. It is a Ninja on the freeway as it glides and maneuvers down the freeway at 75-85 but I feel safe in it. I also was able to qualify for the HOV lane here in California another perk and hopefully it doesn't end but we shall see. I've put about 12,000 miles in 6 months and I really do look forward to driving this car. I wanted the hybrid in case I couldn't charge which has happened several times as I work remotely. I bought the SE so there are some options I wish I had but I can live without like the heated seats (Winter) and power chairs but otherwise I'm very happy.
I've become a Prius fan over the years as I drove a 2012 Hybrid in Japan and had a 2018 Prius Prime that we sold (moving back to Japan). I love the reliability as well. I'm hoping this car lasts several hundred thousand and beyond.
Highly recommend this vehicle. If I did buy again I would buy the XLE but again happy with the SE.
