GR Auto Gallery of Grand Rapids - Grand Rapids / Michigan

The Lotus Elise was built for one purpose and that was to prove to the world that Lotus could make a reliable and competitive super car within a budget for the masses. When first introduced the buying public could not make a deposit quick enough to reserve their build on this sporty two seater with the Toyota engine. These were built to be fast, have exceptional handling and a style unlike any other car. This stunning Elise offered here in the Ardent red exterior and biscuit interior and comes with the Touring package, Starshield, soft top, Blaupkunt radio with upgraded Pioneer head unit, keyless entry and power locks. Vehicle also has a Larini Club Sport cat back exhaust that gives the car an extra little growl and some added performance. Vehicle has been well cared for and serviced routinely before and after storage. The painted hard top matches up nicely and gives the smooth and sexy lines you would expect. Low mileage and proper options make this a must see and be at the top of your list. Comes with keyless remote, tools, factory manuals and clean CarFax. These cars are becoming very difficult to find at a competitive price when they are this clean. Drive in style and be unique at the next car show.

Dealer review:

I bought a 2005 Jaguar XJR from GR auto Gallery in late December, 2017. I picked the car up in early January. Cars transmission had a major malfunction less than 25 miles from the dealership, with more than 375 miles left on my drive home. Car was also unable to create heat, and the windshield washers were not operational. I was able to nurse it home through rough conditions, and then had it towed to a well-regarded, independent Jaguar shop. What the shop found was disappointing to say the least: The car was critically low on both transmission fluid and engine coolant. When filled with test fluids both the transmission and coolant system exhibited significant leaks. Damage to the transmission was catastrophic, damage to coolant system significant, and the total repair bill to simply get the car in condition to drive down the road was $7500 (now up over to $8000 when full extent of gasket damage from overheat was uncovered). This repair cost is more than 70% of the purchase price of the car, and that does not include the almost 1k I had to spend on tires with their preferred vendor to simply drive away from the lot (I was made aware the car was undrivable in any inclement weather on the current tires after I had wired them the funds). As soon as I had the diagnosis I reached out to the GR sales person, let them know what I had been through in the 3 days since picking up the car, provided any/all detail I could muster, and then asked them if they would be willing to help me in some meaningful way in order to make this right (I asked for them to share the cost 50/50). Their co-owner emailed me back, provided no apology, suggested I had errored in not getting a pre-purchase inspection, told me that they were not going to take any action towards restitution, and then thanked me for my business. I responded by letting them know how unfair I thought that stance was, and that I was highly concerned that they would let a customer drive off their lot with a car that was obviously leaking critical fluids, and in fact was so low on those fluids that the car catastrophically failed before I could get out of their zipcode, and that it was my duty to let the buying public know about my experience. The co-owner responded by saying they had no “crystal ball” that could have told them the car was leaking critical fluids, and as a result was catastrophically low on such fluids. He insisted that I should at least be grateful that they had been kind enough to let me know I needed to buy new tires, after I had paid them for the car, so I did not end up “in a ditch”. He then told me that I was free to “rant” all I wanted to about their business online, but it would not affect their happy customers, and that threatening to use “gossip” was not a way to induce them to help me. Again, there was no apology, no responsibility taken for allowing the car to leave their dealer in such a dangerous condition, and nothing that indicated they would do anything to amend for this situation, or do anything different to prevent such a happenstance in the future. I responded to him letting him know I thought the whole thing was unacceptable, that I did not plan to “rant” or “gossip”, but that I was simply going to tell my story and let others understand the nature of their operation. He responded a final time with a two-sentence email offering me a pittance of restitution ($550) if I signed some type of hold harmless paperwork, and tell me they “were sorry that this happened on my purchase”. Again, no responsibility taken for the clear neglect they showed, no phone call, not earnestness or honesty. I told them they could keep the money. Bottom line is this: Do not do any business with this group. They clearly do not have any best practices in place to insure the vehicles they sell can even be started without potential damaging effects, but more importantly they take absolutely no responsibility to do such due diligence. The nature of the leaks the car they sold me had makes it hard for me to believe they did not have any warning that there was serious issues, but that is not something I can know with certainty. What I do know is that this group is not a partner, does not take responsibility for their negligent actions, and will not even take the time to simply pick up the phone and show any empathy for a customer who has had an unbelievably bad experience directly caused by that negligence. If you care about your own wallet and sanity just move to the next listing, work with a dealer who has a semblance of honor, best practice, and decency. James Randall-

Dealer review:

[non-permissible content removed]. Make promises that they won't keep. I purchased a vehicle there last month. Great selection and fair prices. However, they really lowballed me on vehicle trade. Spent over 3 hours just trying to complete the purchase because the moron working with me wasn't even qualified to make the sale. He had to constantly go back to his manager's office through the entire process. They only gave me one key with the vehicle but promised a second key. I just had to wait a week. After a week, I called every day for two weeks to get the second key. After getting the run around for over a week, they told me that they could have a second key made and to drop the vehicle off. However, at that point they told me that I had to pay to have the key made, they would not provide a key. I would rather pay a dealer 5x more to get a second key just out of principle. I will not do further business with them, and I would not recommend purchasing from them. They either need to fire the [non-permissible content removed] that made these false promises when I bought the vehicle or take him out of sales completely. His communication skills are horrific.

Cardinaleway Toyota - South Lake Tahoe / California

Dealer review:

Worked with Robert Klemer on buying a hard-to-get 2017 4Runner TRD Pro, who blames everything negative on the "Sales Manager" taking no responsibility for carrying management directives through and nonchalantly delivering them (good soldier, right?). Classic Car Dealer Management & Employee collusion to, without conscience, fleece the public. So here is the story boiled down to the fundamentals. I understand supply and demand and I believe in it. Businesses need to make money, but should do so, in an honest and forthright manner. The vehicle, 2017 4Runner TRD PRO is rare, there are far fewer than there is demand for so it makes sense that the high bidder (above sticker price) should score the vehicle and it is fair that a Dealer take advantage of such profit opportunity; but where does it end? In the case of CardinaleWay Toyota it doesn't end, in fact it continues abusingly so, ever-so-petty and outrageously insulting. With a Dealer $$Pack (to be negotiated) of $3 - $5,000.00 over sticker price, Robert Klemer communicated to me that there would be two non-negotiable extras to be added; this is it, the straw that breaks the camel's back, defining CardinaleWay Toyota’s petty greed: Robert Klemer, "Of course, as a condition of sale, you must buy the Exterior/Interior Paint Protection package @ $799.00 and the Nitrogen Tire Inflation package @ $300.00". LOL, the Exterior Protection package amounts to a wax job, the Interior Protection amounts to a Scotch Gard type treatment which might offers no benefit on this vehicle’s leather-like vinyl upholstery that Scotch Gard won’t permeate, reliably “coat” or add protection to. These are Dealer created $$Pack items for money grabbing. If you doubt it, consider the Coup de Gras of this CardinaleWay Toyota Rip-Off: the Nitrogen Tire Inflation package @ $300.00. LOL again, with a few tears, if you actually succumb to Mr. Klemer's skillful and subtly elegant sales overture(s). Tire Dealers across the West charge around $8.00 per tire for nitrogen inflation instead of regular air inflation and in the case of Big O Tires, all future inflation checks and re-inflation to prescribed pressures are free. Costco includes it for free with their tire sales. I shared these facts with Mr. Klemer and he replied, "Well... we could give you free refills too"... Realize, that he knows, that I live over an hour and a half away; to offer free refills that I would need drive three – four hours round trip for is an Extreme BLUNT insult and a clear indication that the empathetic facade that Mr. Klemer projects is phony. During one of the telephone conversations Mr. Klemer and I had pursuant to our consummating a deal, he said to me, "I sleep well at night", conveying that he treats his customers fairly, honestly, transparently and commits no misdeeds. Disgustingly, at nearly Ten Times the going price, $8.00 per tire X 4 = $32.00, CardinaleWay Toyota’s duress, condition of sale price is $300.00. Mr. Klemer went on to justify the price by stating that "all" the Dealerships are "doing it"... An evident lie, as I called around and “all the Dealerships” are not “doing it”. Shop it on your own. The fact that CardinaleWay Toyota promotes such Rip-off Packages, let alone, in this case making purchasing them a condition of sale is deplorable. Evaluate it on your own, does $1,000.00 (BS “Paint” & Nitrogen Tire Inflation Package) make a difference in the big picture? Does honesty and fair pricing make a difference? With the glaring rip-off objective that this exemplifies, where and how pervasively does dishonesty permeate a CardinaleWay Toyota transaction and relationship? Beware the CardinaleWay Toyota $$Dealer Pack, realize their outrageous over charge practices. Consider looking elsewhere, there are many Toyota Dealerships in the Northern California/Nevada region. As much as I like and believe in Toyota as a quality automobile manufacturer, I feel that Corporate Toyota's sanctioning of such practice- by allowing their Dealer representatives to mistreat Toyota buyers as such, is a black mark against the great reputation Toyota Motor Corporation has built. Not enough to keep me from buying one at this point, but Toyota has me wondering... Final note, I considered sending this synopsis to The Cardinale Automotive Group for possible resolution before posting it on the various Review Sites. I found: http://www.cardinaleway.com Nowhere on the site is there any contact information- email, telephone or address. These people do not Want or CARE to hear from you. After expressing my dismay described herein via telephone and email to Mr. Klemer and the CardinaleWay Management, I would have considered not posting this review if they would have acknowledged such specifically and apologized coherently and directly instead side-stepping each of my clear and accurate assertions; they did not.
