2020 Kia Telluride
My wife and I test drove the Kia Telluride EX model last week. We were looking for an 8 seater, and this seemed like a great option. In general, we thought the vehicle met our high expectations except for the speakers. The SX model is the only trim with the premium Harmon/Kardon speakers. It may be that the speaker settings hadn't been optimized to my taste, but it my wife and I both … thought the speakers in the EX trim sounded worse than average. This was a deal breaker for us, since one of the things we enjoy most about driving is listening to music and we couldn't justify spending 40K on poor quality sound.
We test drove the SX model the next day, and found the sound system to be pretty good (as expected) but moving up to that trim level resulted in us losing the 8th seat (SX is a 7 seater) which was one of the major reason we were considering the Telluride. The SX seemed great, but we had also been test driving a Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring that came with almost the same set of features we wanted and at the end of the day we couldn't justify spending $9000 more for the Telluride SX (we were quoted $45K) vs the Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring ($36K with the $2K rebate Mazda was having).
Two other nitpicks I had about the Telluride were:
1. Coming to a stop felt fairly abrupt. My old car and the CX-9 both felt like they came to a smoother stop.
2. I wasn't as impressed with the look of Telluride in person as I was with the online pictures/commercials I had seen. It still looks great, but I don't think it's as dramatic looking as what it appears in the advertisements... but you can probably say that about every car.
I thought I should post this in case anyone else is torn making a decision like I was. I don't think you can really go wrong with it, but maybe this will help you feel like are still making the right decision if you don't buy this car.
