Two Months in and No Regrets

2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid
After a long wait since learning that Honda had released a CR-V hybrid ex-US, I shopped around and purchased the CR-V Touring Hybrid in Sonic Grey in July. I was looking for a comfortable, quiet, fuel efficient vehicle for my daily commute in the San Diego area to replace my high mileage 2014 BMW 328d. After ~2000 miles I am nearly matching the 36-38 MPG that I got in the 328d in mixed … driving. On my commute, however, which is mostly non-highway, I have easily achieved 40 mpg, so it is possible under real-world conditions to achieve the mileage listed.
Since my previous vehicle was a BMW, I had the opportunity to drive several loaner BMWs over the span of the 130,000 miles that I drove the 328d, and in my opinion the CR-V Hybrid compares very well in several areas to a BMW X3. The spacious interior is really outstanding and very comparable to luxury brands - the seats, the leather-wrapped steering wheel, hands-free lift gate and door locks. Where it may lag behind is in acceleration, but my 328d 0-60 time was 7 sec, and the CR-V hybrid is not far behind at 8 sec. The CR-V does work harder on steep inclines, but that's to be expected.
A noticeable feature of Honda hybrids is the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS). It is mostly noticeable at low speeds or while in reverse. Perhaps the ground clearance amplifies the sound a bit relative to other hybrids, but it is easy to get used to.
Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase and look forward to commuting with for years to come.
