Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsSlight advantage to be had with wheelspin to keep from bogging the engine. Pretty pokey out of the hole and it is geared tall.
Braking commentsGenerous dive, but very controlled and straight with no ABS buzz. First stop was shortest, but adequate fade resistance thereafter.
Handling commentsSkid pad: With non-defeat ESC, there was little or no intrusion at the limit. Plenty of lean -- enough to lift the inside tire off the ground all the way around. Slalom: Interesting how permissive ESC "off" is despite that it's not truly off. Unusual for Toyota. Pretty obvious tire deflection that produces stering delay-gain. Steering itself lacks feel, so this becomes a rhythm exercise. Finally, I managed to get the front tire to lift and spin at the exit. With ESC on, it was difficult to predict, but again was more permissive than anticipated, with brake-check at cone and no throttle at exit.
