Used 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Consumer Reviews
Love my RAV4 Prime
I bought this car last March through a NY dealer as they were not sold in Texas. I am very happy with it. I charge it overnight every several days after using the 47-48 miles of electric power. I don’t have to buy gas at all unless I make a road trip. But I have made several trips to Florida (1150 miles). On my trips I get 42.7 mpg, which is exceptional for a SUV. It is a comfortable car with little road noise. It also performs well on dirt roads and bumps and provides good visibility for my birdwatching. One thing I have noticed, it will steer itself for short distances then the auto steering cuts out with a warning to put your hands back on the wheel. However, you do notice it wants to steer when you are on the highway in cruise control.so you feel that you are fighting it a bit. It is a comfortable car to drive overall, with good pickup, a good turn radius and a quiet motor. Overall, I love this car and I think it is a good solution for my driving. I do wish some of the hotel chains had plug-ins so I could start each day with the electric motor. I think this availability should be part of a modern hotel!
Simply an amazing SUV
The Rav4 Prime is an excellent SUV! Not only is it a beautiful Vehicle it preforms just as well! They are extremely hard to find, they’re production numbers are very low and most of them are sold in the state of California. Between the battery shortage along with the chip shortage and low production it make it hard for the average consumer to buy one. The Rav4 Prime is smooth, powerful and very good on, reliability, MPG, comfort, passenger safety, sound system, and range just to mention a few things I really like about the rav! 42 miles all electric is awesome and if you don’t have a lead foot you can stretch this out to around 50 mpg depending on city or highway driving. I bought my Rav in October 2022 and have only filled my take one time! Can you believe that! I do however cycle the gas engine from time to time and use a fuel additive to preserve the fuel. Charge time with level two is four hours, level one is 12 hours if you use the Included Toyota 110 volt charger. I definitely recommend buying a level Two charger. You can find them on Amazon for less than $200.00 I really do not see any negative things with this vehicle, but if you want to find something negative and look hard enough I am sure some people will. I highly recommend the Mid sized SUV if you can find one buy! You will not be disappointed 😊🇺🇸👍🏻

Prime disaster
Don't buy Have had car since December. Currently 2500 miles been to the dealership 4 times. Hybrid systems failures. Fuel system failures fuel guage failure. Fuel pump Had to replace fuel tank. And canister. Poor design would not indicate full when full. Headlight failures message. When working. Three hybrid failures. Convertor grounding issues.took three weeks to get parts Cooling valve failure. Car is still at the dealership. Latest they want to return the vehicle to me because these failures are under investigation and Toyota does not have a solution. Total miles 2500. Would wait till next year's model. Dealership has no training to work on these and no replacement parts. Everything has to come from Japan Waited 5 months to get this car so far a complete disaster.
does the job for what I need it for
Waited almost 7 months to pick up a RAV4P XSE w/ Premium at one of my local dealers and was quite happy to get it for MSRP. Originally was going to settle for the SE or XSE with no prem but in the end, the power passenger seat, 360 camera, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and pano roof turned from want to need by significant other. As for drive and performance, we use it primarily for grocery shopping and school drop offs and use no more than 10 miles a day so it works great. Installation of a ChargePoint home charger helps for a quick charge and the hybrid mode helped when we took a 600 mile road trip. Although we were told EV range was 42 miles, we got up to 52 miles per charge which is consistent with other R4P owners that you can get over the 42 miles mark. The RAV4P overall is definitely not a sports car so as long as you do not drive it like one, you won't be disappointed. It has good straightaway speed for highway merging but don’t try to out-handle a Mazda with this!

Most practical
Bought prime SE 1.5 year ago and put almost 37000 km on it ,filled gas only 6times when driven for longer distances, everyday commute 85 km,runs on EV up to 85km daily even more then company suggests,900 km on full tank as well,no lost of space due to battery located under passenger seat,no emmisison, electricity bill only went up around 20$ a month which nothing compare to 300 gas a month,if I have to I will buy another prime as well,
