I have had it for about 24 months - it has been terrific - 40 miles or so on an overnight charge so it uses very little gas when at home base aside from long trips. Very fast although I am not a speeder aside from passing a truck on route 95. Possibly the best car/suv I have had in 50 yrs of driving

Best Vehicle Ever!

Being a drivers education instructor, I have gone through many vehicles over the last 20 years. After 5 years into the business, I settled with the Toyota brand and 5 years later went with the Rav4, since 5months deal with winter driving in the area a live in. I have been very impressed with the Rav4 over the years as it transitioned from total gas to hybrid and then the Prime came into the line up in 2021. So I put in my order and waited over a year to take delivery and was blown away when I received it just before winter. The style, the layout, the power, the comfort, was not what I was expecting to meet as I can always find something that I was not expecting or something that could have been done better. To date in August 2023 I have run only 4 tanks of gas through the engine and have mostly used the electric part of my Prime XSE. They claim on avarage to be getting 42 miles on a charge and in the summer I can get 51 miles to a charge, but in the winter I get 31 miles to a charge and if the temp falls below -10 no electric power and the vehicle goes to gas automatically. Like any vehicle the more weight, the more energy used from the battery, also the colder the temp, the more energy used. I do like having the vehicle on trips as I do not have to worry about finding charging stations and it does very well in Hybrid mode if not using full electric, You can also charge the battery pack with its onboard charger that can be run by the engine. When on the highway, yes you do use up the battery power faster so I always put the vehicle in Hybrid mode 30 seconds before going onto the highway for mechanical purposes of pre warming the gas engine. You can't even tell when car goes from electric to gas, as interior noise is very limited with control of outside noise. AWD system works very well with adapting to driver and road conditions, as well as the pre-developed controls for AWD. After explaining to students, they have no problems with operating and locating the important controls as the lay out seems great, and easy to identify what is needed. Plenty of room for my taller student +6 feet in front and in the back seat and plenty of storage for back packs, instruments, and sports gear in the back. Sports drinks and water bottles, plenty of holders around the seating area's. Vision is great for all to check all around the vehicle as I do not allow the students to use some of the tech. (blind spot monitoring) as it is to easy to put to much trust and since the vehcle is man made can fail at any time, so I make them check the blind spot. I really don't have anything bad to say about this generation of Rav4 and the 2019 Limited is just as wonderful that I have and the other 8, 4th generation models (not liking the hood layout, another story). We enjoyed this Prime so much that my wife wants one for herself and trade in our 2008 Sienna, as we wait for 2 years to take delivery(1 in and 1 to go). This vehicle will be our personal vehicle not for the driving school.
