2025 Toyota Grand Highlander Consumer Reviews

Raving Review
I bought the Grand highlander for its size. It doesn’t handle like a big car. Takes curves and hills fantastically. Just perfect to seat seven. All the technology is a bit much for me but I’m learning. I went with the Limited edition and so happy I did. The panoramic view around the the car while backing up is so helpful. I use it constantly. We love the panoramic sunroof, too. The only thing I would change is the front windows and windshield need more tint like the back windows.

We love it
Smooth ride. Roomy and comfortable. The trunk space is amazing. I get so many compliments. Some of the technology is a lot but you can shut some sensors off.

Don’t Do It!
In March 2024, we purchased our GH Platinum. I should mention we currently have a 2017 and 2018 Highlander (we bought them new) that have NEVER had issues. Each of them has over 100K miles and we’ve only had to do routine maintenance. This GH has been a nightmare after 20K miles. To mention a few of the issues: squeaky brakes, car shakes starting at 78mph, the trunk net latch broke, the transmission makes a whirring noise and sounds like a plane landing, Apple CarPlay works/connects about half the time, VERY loud wind noise/whistling from the front passenger side and the driver side mirror clicks when it turns inward. The dealership is simply awful and told me that Toyota is aware of the wind noise issue but they don’t have a fix, so I have to deal with it. They claim not to hear the brakes or transmission. It’s infuriating that we paid more for the GH than any vehicle we’ve ever purchased and it is a piece of junk. We have always been devoted Toyota owners, but this has been the most disappointing car purchase in my life. I’ll be taking my GH to a different dealership with the hope some of these issues can be resolved. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy the GH. UPDATE: We’ve had the GH for 18 months and 31,000 miles. I’ve had a few more issues….the roof console (overhead lights + sunglass holder) dropped down and had to be remounted, the trunk stopped closing when I hit the button and a sensor had to be replaced (per the dealership, this is a common issue with GH’s) and worst of all is the car still shaking at higher speeds. We have serious concerns about what will go wrong after it hits 36,000 miles. I still don’t recommend this vehicle.

Quite satisfied so far!
Purchased in October and have almost 7K miles on the clock so far, including a 4800 mile road trip to Arizona. Very satisfied with the ride, handling, comfort, and roominess of the vehicle. Fuel economy has averaged at or slightly above EPA estimates - surprisingly good around town. If you are concerned about the performance or the Turbo 4 (like I was) don't be - it has plenty of punch for highway merging and passing. It does roar a bit at full throttle, but you rarely need to put your foot in it that hard. The tech is fantastic but required a bit of learning after coming from Honda and Hyundai as the systems are different. Overall, love the vehicle.

Great try but Toyota ruins it with random ware
So, have been enjoying my grand Highlander platinum until yesterday. Toyota apparently sets up its”connect” technology to convert to a no option monthly pay system. Suddenly no gps access or other technology except a screen takeover saying convert to a pay system. Minimum monthly charge of $15 or all you get is radio. Leave it to Toyota to screw the customer and not care a bit. If only the dealership had informed us we could have shopped elsewhere.
