248,000 plus Miles

123me, 11/20/2022
2006 Pontiac Vibe 4dr Wagon AWD (1.8L 4cyl 4A)
I'm back, with another review of my excellent 2006 Pontiac Vibe. I'm very, very close to the 248,000 miles mark and this gem is still running very well. Yesterday I got new front brakes and a couple of months ago new tires. Just routine upkeep. I live in California and every two years you have to pass a smog test. No problems, it passed with flying colors just last week. At this point a … review like mine is for anyone considering a used Pontiac Vibe. I wouldn't hesitate a minute. These are such well built vehicles. The car was a sister production with Toyota Matrix, so all the parts are Toyota, and mechanics will tell you that if you need a repair. The interior is so roomy even for tall people. I had two over 6' men in the back set once and they had plenty of head room. The car sits high enough that you can easily exit (no crawling out of the driver's seat)! My all time favorite feature, yet to be found in any similar new car, is the the rear seats fold completely flat giving you a very nice bed to move things. Boxes, bikes, I even got an 8' ladder in the car by folding down the front passenger seat. Regarding quality, after 18 years on the road I have replaced the following. Alternator, radiator fan, and the heater/ac dash blower. All of these repairs where under $300. The engine, etc is still solid and running well. I get 30-32 mpg consistently and the car does well on all surfaces. I have to drive in the mountains quite often always without a hitch. I've been very good at doing all the regular maintenance and recommend when buying any used vehicle ask about the owners care schedule. It's the best way to extend a vehicles life. Good luck with your car search, now if you don't mind I'm going to knock on wood, and hope I'll be reviewing this great little car well into the future!
