Used 1999 Oldsmobile Alero Consumer Reviews
i feel safe in this car
Last week, I got in a bad accident in my Alero. I was hit in my driver's side door by a truck and my car ended up being totaled, as the accident was very bad. However, it is amazing that I walked out of the accident without any injuries. Both of my airbags deployed, my car did not roll over, and it kept me from getting hurt. There was another Alero owner in the parking lot and he said that it was good to know that the car could protect so well, and that the airbags work, etc. I agree, and would have no problems getting into another Alero.
What a disappointment
My wife and I bought a 1999 Alero GL2 with 28,000 miles on it in early 2002. We've had it for 1.5 years and have had the following done to it: -Head gasket replaced/repaired ($500) -Ventilation system actuator and resistor replaced ($800) -Left front CV joint repaired ($400) -Right passenger side power window motor replaced ($200) -Front rotors/pads replaced ($300) We have paid over $2,200 in repairs. This is the worst peice of crap either of us have ever owned. The dealership told us "that's what you get for buying a bottom of the line car." Well, after owning this car and being told that - I will NEVER buy another GM car.

A rental unit got me hooked!
I drove this car for 8 hours straight... and felt absolutely no fatigue... that rental car made me go out and by my '99!
