2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid Consumer Reviews

HYBRID Turbo is Awesome!! WOW. MUST BUY!! LOVE IT.
Since moving to a colder snowy climate, I needed an SUV and not a sedan so I traded in my 2018 Hyundai Elantra SEL for a higher ground clearance SUV. I drove my Sedan for 2 winters in the upper MIDwest and I had enough. I needed and SUV. I came across the 2023 Kia Sportage on J.D. Power for being #1 SUV for 2023 plus Edmunds, etc. The 5 star safety rating is the best. That is very important to me. I have been searching for over 3 months for a specific model and trim of an SUV. I wanted to buy the 2023 Kia Sportage in a higher trim level. No dealer within 2,500 miles had the HYBRID SX-Prestige Turbo AWD that I wanted in Gravity Grey. I looked at 30+ different SUV's online and test drove 11 of them. It was down to the Sportage, RAV4 or CRV. The RAV4 and CRV are so outdated inside. I use to own one in the 90's. The inside is almost the same. The informant screens are too small, uncomfortable seats and ride. The Sportage on the other hand is way different, I really like because of all the TECH features and what it looks like. Plus it drives like a dream. Especially the Hybrid. The ride is very comfortable. The Panoramic Sunroof takes my breath away. The dual 12.3" Screens look like at 2 iPads. Awesome. What I like the most is the rotary control shifter VS the normal shifter. The layout on the Sportage Hybrid is very nice. So much room in the back seat and the cargo space. This will be great in the snow, since it has an AWD with SNOW mode and is 8.3" ground clearance. It checked off everything on my list. I had to order thisa SUV to be built in Korea and sent to me. That took 3.5 months. It has been 3 weeks now since I got it and I used 1 gallon of gas. I mainly drive on HYBRID ECO mode. Grant it my work in only 3 miles away. I added a full NANO Ceramic tint to my car, 3 coats of Ceramic paint coating, Roof rails and all the accessories inside as possible. I really love this SUV and glad that I bought it. This is so much fun to drive. No noise from the sunroof at all or the Roof Cross Bars that I installed. I highly recommended this SUV to anyone. If you get one get teh SX-Prestige. This is way better than the LX or EX bas models. You get so much more. Compare them. The 360 Camera view is the best!! The only thing negative is that all the dealers are charging a Markup /Market Adjustment fee. I had to pay it and couldn't get out of it. I think the dealers are price gouging people which is not right at all. At least my trade in was worth $1,000 more than what I bought it for back in 2018. So I won there. That is amazing to have a car appreciate and not depreciate even after 4-5 years. WOW.

Crisp modern styling!
Loaded with safety features, quiet, smooth. loved the 24.5 inch digital instrument cluster. Nav screen does not stick up above dash like an after thought. Roomy front and rear seat legroom. I think it will be worth the 3+ month wait to get it.

My little sport SUV
I don’t care what anyone says, if you know how to drive, this Kia can beat most cars on the road. The amount of instant torque with the AWD will snap your head back when pushed. Since it’s higher up than a sports car who may want to play with me, I can sometimes have a better view of traffic ahead to weave my way through slow movers. I use the paddle shifters on the highway to decelerate when needed to avoid showing my brake lights—try that with other hybrids who all use a boring CVT transmission. My wife wanted it because it was cute & she wanted to save gas. I chose it for the beast I knew it would be. I read Edmunds review that its handling isn’t “sporty” enough. That’s because the driver doesn’t possess enough skill—it will perform with practice after you’ve spent enough time getting to know her. Out of my many years & many cars—this is one of my favorites.

Clever clean gas-hybrid
Nice interior design that even in base model has amenities thoughtfully placed. Quiet and surprisingly powerful for compact size. Good ground clearance for urban and gravel roads, aero exterior design is also appealing. Msrp is a joke though, proved way too high for overall value and brand reliability. It got price point but dealers are smiling all the way to the bank as they gouge buyers. 2024 models are now priced competitively again 2023 models, without logic. We’ll see if reliability holds up.

So far so good
Got the EX Hybrid w/premium package in Vesta Blue. Exterior is very cool, color is perfect for the car. Interior is comfortable, modern, well thought out, and loaded with tech. Also very spacious, hard to believe it's classified as a CUV. It rides smoothly and the pickup is perky. Quiet too. Biggest pleasant surprise is the audio quality on the factory sound system. It's better than the premium system we had on our outgoing Accord! One minor disappointment though. The outside mirrors do not fold. Our driveway is narrow and we have to do a dance each time we enter or exit the vehicle. With all the tech, some of it over the top, you would think Kia would have taken care of this basic shortcoming. Otherwise, a perfect car at this point.
