I have had my sonata since July 2011. It has been great to me. I do a lot of business travel and I am averaging no less than 38MPG on almost all my full tanks of gas 530-575 Miles between fill ups. It has a very smooth ride and I have had no operation or performance issues.

Only buy one if you have a large dealer that has serviced a hybrid

These cars are so new and different from anything out there I would only buy if my local Dealer sold Premium versions, which means they are a large volume dealer and their service department has seen a hybrid before, because if they haven't seen one you will probably know more about than he/she does. I took mine,a Blue Premium to the dealer because we are only getting 27.2 to 33.6 mpg,and yes we are hypermiling.Just because yours is getting 40+ mpg, doesn't mean we just fell off the turnip wagon, feel blessed. And I'm talking mpg @ the pump, not what the computer is telling me,color me skeptical. It was also starting up not in EV,but firing the engine, wouldn't go over 20mph in EV,crawling

Vapor leaks

Engine light is back on, about the 4th time now that we have taken our Hybrid in for the engine light . It appears every 2 weeks or so. Been told it is due to a Vapor leak sensor that keeps going off, it is adjusted for California emissions standards and they cannot seem to fix this, and the factory does not have an answer. We are on the 6th recall fix, seems the car was released before it's time. Need to research the Lemon laws next and waiting for the class action suite.

The car did great except city MPG worst than they say in city.. My wife and I had 2 near accidents because the engine didn't kick in after we pulled out in front of people on highway,,Dealer Crain in Little rock was the worst,, told us nothing then went home and a lot are having these problems and Hyundai doesn't stand by their cars,,unless you can be at the dealership instead of at work getting paid,,We spent 3 trips trying to fix car and another to replace part.. Warranty doesn't mean crap if you are there every 2 weeks..BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!
