hate this car

I bought my first brand new car February 4th 2020. I purchased a 202 Chevrolet Trax AWD... This is the absolute WORSE VEHICLE I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. I hate this car, I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. At 1200 miles the check engine light came on and the car shut off on me in the middle of the interstate in Wyoming in a blizzard!!!!! The dealership in Wyoming replaced my fuel filter claiming it was fixed, the refused to give me a loaner car. They left me and my & years old child without a vehicle in the middle of winter in Wyoming and didn't give a damn! I go to pick my car up a few days later and the thing wouldn't start. So they take it back into service, once again refusing me a loaner car (remind you loaner cars are covered under my warranty I PAY FOR) The dealership calls me 4 days later saying my fuel pump was bad and charged me $130 to drain my fuel, claimed that wasn't covered under my bumper to bumper warranty. I finally get my car back and it still isn't running right, I tell the dealership and the mechanic laughed at me and told me there is nothing wrong with my car... couple months go by, my car still doesn't run right, it stalls, acts like it doesn't want to go and makes some metal clanking noise when I hit the gas. Well, I move back home to Texas, get here and 2 weeks later my check engine light comes on AGAIN. I take it to the local dealership here and tell them about the check engine and how it hasn't been running right since 1200 miles. At least this dealership gave me a loaner car. Well, they had my car for over a week with zero communication with me, unless I called them. They had to replace my turbo charger with only 13000 miles on my car. I get it back, they still did not address the stalling issue or the clanking noise. The representative I picked the car up from said there wasn't even notes made in the system about the issue. Well, a few weeks pass and my check engine light comes on again, and my car still is stalling out. I take it back to the shop AGAIN, they had it like 5 days, apparently I had eroded spark plugs on my brand new car. I get my car back for 7 days and it is stalling so bad I almost got smashed by a semi in the middle of Highway 75 in Dallas with my child in the back seat. I am so very disappointed in GM and Chevy and how they made such a [non-permissible content removed] vehicle and how their service departments treat me like I'm stupid because I'm a woman and how their service departments refuse to look into an issue that has been brought to their attention numerous times. My car has now been back in the shop for a week, with no communication from the service department once again. GM and Chevy should be ashamed of themselves for treating your customers like this. Mine and my Childs lives are put in danger every day ion that vehicle and neither GM, Chevy, their dealerships or service departments seems to care at all. This is my first brand new vehicle and it has been the worse experience ever.

Okay so I have 10,000 miles on my Trax went through some growing pains with it it was rough in the beginning but the suspension broke in. The stiff frame is actually quite nice. car has a slight body roll when cornering, you get used to it . We've had heavy rains the past few months and the car goes into misfire mode the next day after about five miles the misfire warning goes away when things dry out. Taking the engine beauty cover off yields white corrosion on the four torx stews holing the coil pack assembly down. whenever you open up the driver side door in the rain about a gallon of water runs out from the weep holes it fills up with water and you get the warning on the dashboard to open and close your driver's side window up and down so it can relearn its parameters. The draining water may seem inconsequential but holds moisture and causes fogging in the winter and will cause premature rust if you do not use the car often enough to drain that water out. the hill assist is a problem. It has only work several times. There is a recall on other GM models for this. I park on a hill everyday at the same spot and the car tends to roll and if you're stopped at the light and you take your foot off the gas your car will roll backwards. This is serious and one of the biggest complaints on this model, you will roll into the car behind you. I believe the car is made to disengage the converter when stopped, probably to save gas.. As you hit the gas you hear and feel the lock up. Kind of a good way to avoid the start stop system everyone hates. But without the hill assist holding the car it rolls back like driving a stick shift vehicle. Since day one this thump of the converter locking up when you take your foot off the brake is annoying and has become a very noticable sometimes violent thump as if someone bumped into you. GM posted a bulletin stating it is present but does not affect performance. The air conditioning system isn't up to par, anything over 82 degrees and full sun is problematic. The size of the car is perfect for New York City driving and parking. It holds quite a bit of stuff.the car is a cute little car, some do not agree. *** Fast forward to 36,000 miles. The thumping is worse. I changed one set of brake pads all around. Zero additional cost to lease this car for 3 years other than oil changes. Apart from the complaints it proved durable I wound up buying this off lease for a great price of 14,300.00. given car prices I took the chance.**** Fast forward again 41,000 miles it started using Antifreeze. Gallon for 2000 miles. I will update. Blogs say it could be a clamp on a hose, plastic thermostat housing crack, or the dreaded turbo. Stay tuned.****

Trash don’t buy

So 3 months after my new car purchase the battery died, called service they said even tho the car was brand new it was considered maintenance and they wouldn’t do anything. the manufacturer’s warranty ended at 35,000 miles at 40,000 the fan wouldn’t stop blowing it would run when the car was turned off killing the battery fixed broken fuse then can stopped running altogether over heating the car, another brown fuse then the fan started running again after the car was turned off and the entire dashboard went out reset the battery fixed that, what next? Not to mention it does not show the gauge to tell the car is overheating or how hot it is, it only has a warning the will flash that it’s over heated. Only pros for me is it’s good on gas, other than that would never buy this car again.

First of all, this car needs higher octane gas. So when the gas prices go up as they did, you'll be paying through the nose. I tried not putting in the higher octane gas and the car basically will sputter and not go. Second, I live in a hot area. Nevada. So when it's hot, this car will sputter if there is a mild or more incline you can feel it lose power. Doesn't seem to have this problem when it's not hot. It's also bumpy when it shifts. Not sure if there is anything wrong with the transmission. I took it back to chevy and they said everything was fine. 3rd. If you plan on putting anything between the front seats.... it'll be in the back floor real quick, there's nothing to stop it. I had to put a cup in the center back holder to prevent this. 4th Most of the time, I can't tell if the air conditioning button and/or the air recirculating button are on or off. the light is so dim. if it's sunny outside, forget about it. 5th. I hate this push button key fob recognition system it has. If it doesn't detect the fob, it won't unlock, nor start. It's real annoying when I stop, and turn the car off but it can't find the fob, so it'll turn the engine off, but keep everything else on until you start the car again just to turn it off again, because you were getting out anyway. 6th. Holy cow, I've never had a vehicle acquire so many dents and scratches and one broken windshield. I think the angle of the hood and windshield is an invitation for damage. Oh and don't get a flat, tire store said tires are odd size and they don't carry them, 2 to 3 days out. (I'm not doing the counting thing anymore). One of the most annoying things is the display that occasionally pops up that says something to the effect of "taking your eyes off the road is dangerous" Even my 11 year old daughter said, Dad that's a stupid message, you have to take your eyes off the road to read it and then clear it out. Some kunkle head didn't think that one through. I really don't like the car. I like chevy's, just not this car.

Purchased a 2020 LT. Loaded with AWD for $19000. I weight 250 pounds and fit in the Trax fine. Car is solid as a rock and gets great mileage for an AWD. Amazing in the snow. In my opinion, this is the biggest bargain in the US auto market.

The worst vehicle I've ever owned

After my Corolla got rear ended I said I would give a domestic carmaker an opportunity to earn my business. So I purchased a 2020 Chevrolet Trax LT AWD. It was new when I bought it. Big mistake. It struggles to accelerate (kinda like my mail truck from 1987), has terrible fuel mileage, is cramped, needed new electrical work and a new radiator at 40,000 miles, it lost all of its oil pressure at one point and overall I wasn't happy with it. I take good care of my vehicles because I want them to last but the Trax really struggled with maintenance. I decided to trade it for a Honda.

Fine unless you enjoy speed and acceleration

The Trax is a good value for someone looking for the function of an SUV but needs a small package. It has good visibility, is relatively comfortable, and offers more space than a compact sedan would. Access to the rear seats is adequate and there's room for groceries, packages, etc. It is not the fastest off the mark, however. The engine is a bit underpowered- I wonder if this had been equipped with GM's old "Iron Duke" 16v 4-cylinder would it be a little more sprightly. If the tradeoff for the lackluster acceleration was outstanding fuel economy I could understand, but no. It will do if you just have to have a Chevy, but there are competitors that do the compact SUV better.

I recently traded in my beloved Cube after 12 years and was looking for something unique with style and the interior room I had gotten used to. Once I saw the new RED HOT Trax LT on the lot, that was it. Had it for a month and like it more each day. Great car, great price, great color.
