ulitmate vehicle - Best of both worlds
This truck/suv has it all. You can lock items in the back with the rigid cover like an SUV. You can take it off and haul items in the bed. You can extend the bed into the cab of the truck. It is much more versatile than the standard truck.
2005 Avalanche
Transmission problems at 34,000 miles and less than 1 year of service. 2wd to 4wd selection buttons and servo motor went out at 45,000 and had to be replaced. Repaired transmission failed at 53,000 miles and is being replaced with a used transmission underneath an extended warranty purchased at a cost of $2,800 as insurace for the transmission repair. I think I should learn how to spell Toyota?

Fun to Drive @ 20.1 MPG
Owned a Ford F-150 for 10 years, still have it, still use it, still a great truck. Ive owned the '05 Avalanche LT for one year now. I bought the truck because I liked the style and every Avalanche owner I spoke to was passionate about how much fun it was to drive. This vehicle is easy to handle with great control, power, and smooth ride. Every truck owners dream, including great gas mileage; city 19 hwy 24, I average 20.1mpg. Best investment Ive made in a long time. Now all I need is to find an E85 fuel station.
Best truck out there
This truck is an excellent vehicle. I enjoy it more every day I drive it. It is like no other truck as far as versitility goes. And it is as comfortable, and smooth as any truck can get. It rides like a car--very smooth. I have used it for numerous things- mostly comfortable trips back and forth to work, but also have picked up plenty of supplies, and it is soo easy to change from suv to p/up truck. The top panels come off, and go back on so easy it is great. anyone interested in this vehicle, do not pass it up it is an excellent vehicle. buy it and enjoy it, as much as i do.
After one year
My Avalanche is the first full size truck I've ever owned after 25 years of driving. I bought it for its versatility, towing capacity and styling. The truck has not disappointed after 16,000 miles. Gas mileage in congested Dallas, with a lot of stop and go traffic everywhere, has averaged a little over 15 MPG. I like the ride and handling of the vehicle and it's really very comfortable as a daily driver. The only build quality problems I've had are with the body side molding which developed adhesive bubbles that required replacement of all door moldings after one year. I would never buy a just a pick-up. The versatility of a luxury vehicle with the ability to tow and haul is great!
