Edmunds' Expert Review

If you've got the bucks, this is unequivocally the best car in the entry-luxury category.

2003 Highlights

For 2003, BMW will finally offer a DVD-based navigation system -- meaning that you won't have to give up an in-dash CD player if you opt for the nav system. Other changes include a standard front armrest for all 325 models, as well as a rear center headrest for all sedans and wagons. Additionally, all wagons will come with a moonroof. In terms of options, the Premium Package for all 325s now includes automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, and the Sport Package for the 330xi includes double-spoke alloy wheels and run-flat tires.

This car has been great
I bought this car in 2011 with 80k miles on it. It has 115k on it now in 2017. I've had very few problems, nothing major; water pump and alternator. The sun roof had to be replaced and is still not perfect but it doesn't leak! The car drives great; power, handling, comfort and reliability are all impressive. I am totally sold on BMW's now, this was my first and at this point there is no going back to anything less.
BMW first timer
2003 325CI coupe w/ 5-sp manual. Pure delight to drive. Manual shifter absolutely glides through each gear, never resisting, never sloppy, just smooth as silk. Power is best termed as graceful. Around town, passing, or normal acceleration just FEELS authoritative, confident and agile quick. Interstate driving is where you especially feel like you own the road. Passing cars and filling holes in traffic so effortlessly. When I test drove this car, I had to run the car out through the gears to get an idea of it's power. Quite frankly, my first impression wasn't that high due to it's lack of high-rev power. The 2.5 is never going to be a screamer. But who actually drives a car full-out anyway?
A fun car to own
Swiss Ag,10/11/2002
I had wanted this car for a while and I could not be happier with my purchase The car turns a routine jaunt on the freeway into a sublime journey. My wife was slow to come around, but after she had some alone time to bond with the car we find ourselves making excuses for who gets to drive the Bimmer each day. If you like performance, you have to go with the manual as you just do not get the same performance out of an automatic. If you are looking for a plush, supple ride this is not the car for you. If you want to feel as though you are an extension of the road, you have to at least give it a try.

this car is an excellant driving expierence . i also own a mercedes clk430 which pales in comparison to the bmw 330ci coupe.

Should I lease or buy a 2003 BMW 3 Series?

Is it better to lease or buy a car? Ask most people and they'll probably tell you that car buying is the way to go. And from a financial perspective, it's true, provided you're willing to make higher monthly payments, pay off the loan in full and keep the car for a few years. Leasing, on the other hand, can be a less expensive option on a month-to-month basis. It's also good if you're someone who likes to drive a new car every three years or so.
