Edmunds.com Shares Ford Motor Company Data and Insights in Preparation for Earnings Announcement

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- October 25, 2010 -- Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information, offers reporters the following data and insights in preparation for Ford Motor Company's third-quarter earnings announcement tomorrow:

From Edmunds.com Senior Analyst Jessica Caldwell: "Ford has had a series of successful new products recently, including the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Fusion. When an automaker consistently comes out with good products, people start to believe it really has changed and is worth a look when it's time to go car-shopping."

From Edmunds.com Senior Analyst Michelle Krebs, whose report "Ford Could Post Record Third Quarter Profit" appears at http://www.autoobserver.com/2010/10/ford-could-post-record-third-quarter-profit.html: "Ford buyers are adding more features to the Fords they buy, boosting the price and the profit Ford makes. Buyers paid an average of $30,636 for a Ford in September, up 10 percent from five years ago."

From Edmunds.com Analyst Ivan Drury: "Ford has managed to lower its incentives and still grow sales. Year to date, Ford market share is up 1.3 percent while the company's investment in incentives per vehicle sold dropped 7.2 percent in the same period."

Edmunds.com Analyst Panee Segal and her team review and assess complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration since January 1, 2005 for vehicles built in model years 2005 through 2010. Segal reported, "Ford Motor Company is in 11th place among all car companies in terms of most complaints per 100,000 vehicles sold in the United States. The complaint volume isn't remarkably high compared to the number of vehicles Ford has sold overall."
