Edmunds.com Launches Campaign to Restore Detroit Landmark

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — September 10, 2014 — Edmunds.com, the premier destination for car shopping, today launched the Rebuild Detroit Brick by Brick Campaign (#RebuildDetroit)—a grassroots effort to restore city landmark Hart Plaza. Edmunds.com announced the campaign during the grand opening celebration for its new downtown Detroit office.

"The Detroit 3 automakers have been critical to our success over the years, and we are excited to join them in the rebuilding of the industry’s historic birthplace," says Edmunds.com CEO Avi Steinlauf. "A dozen of our employees are based here. Edmunds thinks of Detroit as a vital connection to so much of our business, from the locally designed and built cars and trucks that our editors review, to the Detroit 3 manufacturers with whom we work, to the numerous Michigan based dealers from which our shoppers buy their vehicles."

The Brick by Brick Campaign allows everyone — from big organizations to individual donors - to take part in the restoration of Hart Plaza, which is located directly across the street from Edmunds new Detroit office in a 14-acre municipal park that runs along the Detroit River at the corner of Jefferson and Woodward Avenues. Patrons’ names will be inscribed on pavers that will be installed in the plaza, near the park's popular amphitheaters and the iconic Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain. Vandals caused $1 million in damage to the plaza in January of 2013.
