VOLVO COMPLAINT I have a 2004 Volvo XC90 that I purchased new through the overseas delivery program. My family chose this car for it's supposed safety and reliability. Along with other problems that needed attention in the first 50,000 miles, my main issue has been the transmission(s) on this car. But with Volvo phasing out the XC90 in 2010 it may be a really bad financial decision if I want to sell it. Phase out their best selling vehicle and biggest hit they've had in ... well forever? Who started that rumor?

Second coopcar's research. Have been looking since the end of July. The supplies of V8's are almost nonexistent in the Midwest. The lease deals are terrible. Leasing is dying a slow death - for Suv's - you can still get deals on S80's but the manufacturers and banks are very nervous about writing leases where end lease values are uncertain. The only reasonable deal, if you want one is on Pathfinder, ... Read More

Tax rate (FL) 6.5% I have been told the state of FL regulates extended warranty's essentially fixing the prices. . . the extended warranty for 7yr/100K total is over $3600 via Volvo. So purchasing the 2005 XC90 V8, with 41K miles, for $21K and adding $3600 for a warranty, may not make a fantastic deal anymore. MY dealer states a new XC90 body comes out in 2010, and suggested I'd have ... Read More

According to a CNN article today it says the 2010 update has been canceled and the XC90 will be discontinued in 2012. It says this decision was made due the fact Volvo did not have a hybrid drive to install in the XC90. According to the article Volvo denied any such plans. I would copy and paste the paragraph here but don't know if that is allowed. Title was "Death of ... Read More

If you were a car company would you tell potential customers a year or two ahead of time when you were upgrading your models so sales in the mean time could dry up? No...I didn't think so. ;-) The rumor is 2010, but nobody, least of all dealers or car rags, knows for sure.

I understand your concern about the 3.2 L I-6. In its favor, however, is its smoothness without balance shafts, its sweet sound, its low positioning in the hood for safety reasons and the fact that it has a chain, not belt, to eliminate $700 belt change at 90k miles. Would the Aisan 6 speed automatic have to be reworked for more torque with the V6? Before I purchased my XC90, I ... Read More
