Hi to all... My wife's '06 S-Type 4.2L VDP (60k miles & still under extended warranty) has a chronic summer cooling problem: On hot Atlanta days with the Climate Control set on 'Auto' and 70F, the air blows cold fairly soon, but the blower fan doesn't speed up past level 2 to distribute enough cold air. She has to lower the temperature down to 'LO' and manually crank up the fan ... Read More

I have 2006 Jaguar S type that has a "PARKING BRAKE FAULT" light on the console. Anyway for some reason I can get the the parking brake off and the car will not move. I tried to release it manually but that was unsuccessful. Can someone out there please give me a suggestion on what to do. I was thinking about disconnecting the battery then re-connecting it to see if that ... Read More
Ken: Easy way to tell what trannys in the car - the ZF is a 6 speed, the Ford box is 5. I picked up a CPO 2006 S-Type VDP model earlier this year from the local Jag Dealer. I suggest you look for a CPO car with the 300 HP 4.2 V8 in it. Fuel economy is virtually the same as the 3.0. This S-Type is my third Jag, I ... Read More
Please advise on the following if you can. I am having similar transmission problem of my 2002 S-Type Jaguar. I bought the car in 2006 with 22,000 miles. A few months ago, I replaced the transmission with a used one. Unfortunately, that transmission is now defective and it happens just after the 90 day warranty. Should I consider this time a rebuilt one from the dealership or any other supplier? Thanks ... Read More
Dear beeware, In answer to your question quite a bit of information would needed to advise properly. However, there are very few cars more expensive to keep on the road than an old Jaguar. My experience is that the ones with the most miles on them are more dependable than the ones rarely driven. of course the ones rarely driven can still look brand new. In response to all this stuff ... Read More
I own a certified Select Edition 2001 “S” type Jaguar purchased in 2003 with the extended warranty as part of the car being a “Select Edition.” My wife and I drove from our home in CA, to Fort Worth, TX on September 28, 2006. Because of time restraints, we had to be in Fort Worth in two days. We have taken this trip several times before with no problems whatsoever. The ... Read More
Just bought a 2006 S type. It is black, but I don't know if it is ebony or midnight. The dealer said to look under the hood and it would say, but I can't find anything there. I need the name for the correct touch up pen from Jaguar. Had it 2 months and love the car in every way! Fell in love with the classic style in the 60's and ... Read More

I BOUGHT A 2001 JAGUAR S TYPE 3.0 IN LATE 2004. WHEN I BOUGHT IT THE JAG DEALER CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THIS WEEK 3/12/2007 I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SHIFTING PROBLEMS. IT WOULD SHIFT EARLY OR SHIFT TWICE IN QUICK SUCCESSION. THE DEALER AGAIN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION! THANK GOD I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. ALL WORK WAS NO CHARGE TO ME. I AM VERY WARY ... Hi jagtn. Here's the information that you're looking for. Jaguar Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2006 Jaguar S-Type V8 with 12,000 miles per year are .00070 and 42%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a 2007 S-Type V8 are .00066 and 47%. When negotiating your lease, make sure to take the $4,250 lease cash that Jaguar ... Read More

Hi Car_man, Thanks for all your great work on these sites. They are a huge help. We are looking at three vehicles, one being a 2006 Jag S model. The dealer has one left on the lot and he said Jaguar had a "dream lease" program on the '06s. I haven't got all the details yet, but based on the price of $51,595, they said the residual was 53% for 12,000 ... Read More
Welcome back nlkleinberg. There's nothing wrong with trading in your old car when leasing a new one. Just make sure to have the dealer that you are working with cut you a check for any equity that you have in your trade rather than using the proceeds from it as a capitalized cost reduction for your lease. I haven't seen Jaguar's lease program for the 2007 XJR or the S-Type R ... Read More
Hi Carman: OK, I'm back after 3.5 years. My 2003 BMW 5-Series car's warranty is up next May and I'm shopping for a replacement. I want something different and am looking at Jaguar (call me crazy, call me nutsy, my wife does and she's a shrink). Given the uncertain resale value I'd like to lease it, which would be my first time doing so. I have several questions I hope you ... Read More

http://money.cnn.com/2006/08/06/news/international/ford_landrover.reut/index.htm- - I wonder who wants it? Jaguar is so unattractive that they need to bundle it with a Land Rover sale.
Another update: Got a fax from Jaguar saying they would give me a new car or, If I chose, would refund my money as prescribed in the Lemon Law. I chose to take the money since the loaner I had started making the same noises, and another person here seemed to be having the same problem. Funny that there do not seem to be similar problems with the 04 & 05 ... Read More
Here is a follow-up to my original post regarding my buyback request. Jaguar wrote me a letter saying they would look into the matter and reply within 30 days. 30 days was July 27 and still no reply. Just found this forum.....looks great. I have X Plan pricing available to me, but dealer (where I have an existing leased X Type) says he will beat it (which it looks like he did). Hi timj. I would not be surprised at all if you were able to negotiate a selling price that is well below 4% over invoice on the S-Type that you are interested in. Jaguar sales have been extremely poor lately. Many Jaguar dealers are probably willing to cut pretty skinny deals on S-Types right now. You might as well see how good a deal you can negotiate on your own. The ... Read More
Hey bikeswimrun. Many manufacturers, I believe including Jaguar, have lease programs for Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. The problem with leasing used vehicles is that automakers usually provide much less lease support on them, if any, than they provide on new vehicles. As a result, used vehicles are often as expensive to lease, or even more so, than equivalent brand new models. This is why it is extremely important to compare the cost ... Read More
"Jaguar is currently providing $6,000 dealer cash on 2006 S-Type R models that are leased through Jaguar Credit. " I see only $1,000 listed (on Edmunds = loyalty) on the 2006. Did you mean 2005? Thanks, - Ray Lusting (still) after an R . . .
My wife is a X-plan member because of her employer, which allows us to purchase a Jaguar at 4% above invoice without negotiations. A S-Type with the options we want has an invoice price of $46,974 plus the 4% mark up of $1,990 for X-Plan members totalling $48,964. However, I am not sure if this is a good deal based on discussions within this forum regarding the poor sales of Jaguars. ... Read More
Hey bikeswimrun. Jaguar is currently providing $1,500 dealer cash on 2006 X-Types. However, this cash is not compatible with Jaguar Credit's special lease program. It also has owner loyalty cash available on this model right now, but I believe that you mentioned in another discussion that you currently have a Land rover so you probably are not eligible for it. As far as this car's lease program goes, if you were ... Read More
No problem, tufts. Jaguar is currently providing $6,000 dealer cash on 2006 S-Type R models that are leased through Jaguar Credit. The price that you were quoted is $8,671 below MSRP, which sounds good at first. I'm sorry to say it, but I don't think that Jaguar's sales are going to get any better casinohost. Jag dealers will probably be just as urgent to sell their vehicles in July as they are right now. Of course, it is difficult to predict what manufacturers' future lease programs will be like. Having said that, I don't think that it will cost much more to lease this car later on ... Read More
Welcome back newbeetle04. Let's see what sort of information I can share with you. First let's take a look at this car's lease program. If you were to lease a 2006 Jaguar S-Type V8 through Jaguar Credit right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its buy rate lease money factor and residual value should be .00026 and 46%, respectively. Want to know how leg room (front and rear) is figured in cars. I see the long wheelbase 2006 XJ Jaguars rear leg room is listed as 39.3", while a 2005 Buick Le Sabre had 39.9". The Edmunds editor's review of the long wheelbase Jags says there is 5 more inches of rear leg room than the regular Jags. What's the story?
Well I see what you are saying and here are my grounds for my complaint. Things go wrong with cars, its just understood. And it is also understood that a car's engine blowing at 29,000 miles is ubsurd. I have had every scheduled maintenance through Jaguar and then some. And you are right the warranty is up, I will not dispute that. And I am not coming to Jaguar much later, ... Read More
Deadstype: I find your situation a bit difficult to fully comprehend. Several points: I can certainly believe that a blown engine at 29,000 miles is frustrating. In any car. And yet, the 2001 Jag warrantee was for 4 years (as I recall, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first). Not 5 years. Or 6. Or 7.
