Your point (and mine) still stand. At least Hyundai has attempted to make reparations for the error of their ways (however intentional or not). Eyes are now on Ford for the hybrid vehicles not living up to the standards set. Full disclosure: I drive a 2009 Sonata, GLS V6. Rated 19/29. I drive 90% interstate; my mpg average is 31.1 as of lunchtime today. I do limit my speeds to 75 ... Read More

For safety I replaced right rear caliper and pads myself at 39k, thanks Auto zone. Filed interference fit on both calipers so pads move smoothly. My 2009 Fusion SEL V6 initially got around the posted estimate of 26mpg Hwy. At about 5000 it started improving to the point that now with out fail it gets 30mpg Hwy with the cruise set at 70mph. Sounds more like the stereo head unit to me. It would talk to the XM receiver & most likely drives the USB port as well. Check the fuse. Pull the fuse to fully power-down the stereo, then re-insert it. FYI: The stereo should have a 3 year/36K warranty so if you're within that period take it to a dealer for servicing.

The Sonata should be a dependable car, if that is what your referring to as performance. It has 175hp and should get low 30-34 mpg on highway driving.
