Re: 2000 Isuzu Rodeo - Eating Engine Oil [aramos08]
Written by: nogorodeo on Oct 1, 2007 12:30:09 PM
I bought a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo about 3 weeks ago. After going not even 2500 miles, it has gone through all the oil, the oil light didn't come on and the engine locked up. Now I have to replace it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the engine to replace it with. I think the same engine was put into other vehicles such as the Honda Passport, and they could ... Read More

2001 Honda Passport Transmission Problem
Written by: rangerboy on Sep 4, 2006 10:06:15 AM
I have a 2001 Honda Passport that is having a problem shifting between first and second gears. It's also not climbing hills very easily. Engine is stalling out or not engaging. I've read that it might be some transmission sensor or maybe even the alternator. Has anyone out there had a similar problem?

I also owned a 2001 HOnda Passport, with one problem after the other my advice to you is to get rid of it and never buy another Isuzu product - Honda did not make the Passport the Passport is an Isuzu rodeo - a true Honda is a great vehicle and HOnda themselves will now tell you dont ever by a passport.

I own a 2001 Honda Passport aka fraudulant name for Isuzu Rodeo, I thought a bad EGR valve would not hurt my vehicle either but it did, now I am in over $3000.00 in repairs and my vehicle still does not run The best repair for any isuzu product is gas and a lighter!

We had same problem with our 2001 Isuzu. Had mech. replace fuel filter kit, not whole fuel pump. Got it off ebay for about 15.00 cost 128 to have put in though. Also, she was reading low oil but was also smoking. Had mech put high grade oil in and he is checking for next couple of weeks, so far so good.

I am having similar problems withmy 2001 Honda Passport. How do you know it is the alternator. I read somewhere else about it might be the transmission range sensor. What do you think? I also am having problems with my window wipers and my fuel gauge. Do you know if anything is covered under warranty?

Spare tire under cargo area instead of behind the vehicle
Written by: redux on Sep 7, 2005 8:28:57 AM
The spare tire on my 2001 Honda Passport LX 2WD / Isuzu Rodeo is mounted on the rear cargo door and I'd like to mount it under the vehicle (like on the EX). I looked under the cargo area and I saw two brackets with 4 bolt holes which looks like it might hold an optional fixture for the spare tire, but I cant find anything in a search for aftermarket ... Okay I have my 2001 Honda Passport back from the dealer and they said they could find nothing wrong. The ABS pump is working properly, the brake lines are great, the calipers are fine, Rear Drive Shaft has no codes stored. The Sensors are not storing codes. Everything is safe. I picked it up and luckily was not charged for the diagnoisis. I just drive it until a check engine light ... Read More

Well I have a 2001 Honda Passport with an Isuzu engine and just today I took it to the dealer for a possible ABS problem. On occasion, especially in the morning, when I leave my house and have to apply the brakes it makes a crunching noise and springs forward like I'm on ice before it will stop then when I accelerate again after a few yards the rear end bumps ... cargo cover availability
Written by: Boris2 on Dec 4, 2002 12:48:05 PM
I am currently in progress of trying to buy a cargo cover for my '01 Rodeo and having a lot of problems... very unexpected I should say. 4 out of 5 of my local dealers couldn't locate one in Beige color and said they don't exist, which is a complete BS. One dealer did locate it, but after I waited for two weeks and called them to get the status on ... Read More

Howdy partners! Swagak here. Long time reader, first time poster. Good to see you all. I'd like to thank everybody for their posts over the past 6 months...the information was very useful in my car buying experience. Me and the little woman bought a 2000 Honda Passport EX a few weeks ago. I know, I know...we should have bought a 2001 Rodeo. Well, we tried to get a sweet LS 4WD, ... Read More

Try 2001 Honda Passport EX (with leather) for 26 grands. It doesn't have the intelligent suspension but reviews about intelligent susp is not that great. There are many aftermaket shock upgrades for just about a hundred dollar with much better ride quality. I used Monroe matic shocks with very comfortable ride. Honda drivetrain warranty is NOT 10 years but feedbacks reveals that ISUZU gives their customers a run-around when they deserved ... Read More

jefprelude - Rodeo
Written by: drmperalta on Jan 16, 2001 1:45:30 PM
The newer (2001) Rodeos are not as bad as the previous ones. They fixed most of the bugs that ISUZU denied to acknowledge from the customers of earlier 2nd gen Rodeos. If you like the Rodeo, you should find a good dealer that can assure you (in writing) the it will fix any vibration problems (most likely tire related) and address other minor issues, which is covered by the warranty anyway. ...
