There are a lot of different stories on the Fords. I had a 1999 250 diesel (7.3L) and the engine was fine... but the tranny was a problem. No problems until 72.500 miles then the skids just fell out of the Ford. Two transmissions... and a clip on A fuel injector plug... I sold it at 109,000 miles. I liked the way it drove.. I have two 1999 Silverados one a 1500 with a 5.3L and the other a 2500 with the 6.0L. The exhaust manifold bolts on the left and right banks are broken off. The Chevy dealer charges over $450/labor plus parts on each bank provided that they dont have to pull the head off. We just bought a used 2003 Silverado 2500HD LS with a plow. It has a June 03 in-service date and approximately 19,000 miles on the odometer so there are about 9 months and almost 17,000 miles left on the original 3 yr / 36K Warranty.
