Her is some interesteing data from July 2007. According to the industry examiners at CNW Research, Cadillac’s fortunes appear to be slipping away at the margins. In the firm’s July installment of their Retail Automotive Summary, their Aspirational Index (which judges a brand’s attractiveness to consumers) reveals that Cadillac’s rising star is beginning to falter. In the mid-Nineties, the marque rated only a 4 on a 10 point scale. With the ... Read More

But lately we have noticed that some of the GM cars are looking pretty impressive, namely the Cadillac CTS, Chevy Malibu, GMC Acadia, Saturn Vue, Saturn Outlook, Saturn Aura, Buick Enclave. Also some of the Fords look good, like the Ford Edge, Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan. I agree completely Americans are starting to build better vehicles, The only 2 American cars that I would ever purchase would be the ... Read More

The U.S. President still rides in a Cadillac. But more than three out of four Americans who buy a luxury car these days opt for a European or Japanese model. Nowhere has the Detroit-based carmakers' loss of market share been more dramatic than in the luxury segment. General Motors, Ford Motor and Chrysler sold fewer than half of all light vehicles in the U.S. for the first time in July. But ... Read More

Seats with support are not uncomfortable to us that dont have butts as wide as a double door entry to a house. I think you have it just backward. The hard cardboard seats they are pushing off as sporty are built for our average citizen that has a fat cushy posterior. A fat rear end has its own built-in padding. Cadillac built its reputation on plush cars with plush seats. I ... Read More

The Caddy dealer near me gives 6 year 100k mile bumper to bumper $0 deductible with every Certified used Cadillac. That is the reason I tried talking my wife into the 2006 White Diamond Escalade. She just does not like the looks. Prefers the Denali Yukon or Envoy. She also likes the GL by MB.

Rocky, My wife does not like the angular lines on the Cadillacs. I guess it appeals to a younger crowd. I drove the 2007 Escalade which was very nice. Except the seats are so much harder than the 2006 and older models. The one I drove was near $70k and the 2006 with 21k miles was $40k. Too big of a hit for me to accept. That is what I am ... That is the factory standard warranty. I would assume the Certified 6 & 100k is some extended warranty. The salesman was very proud of the fact that it was B to B with no deductible. I am sure that was from original date of sale. Rocky, My wife does not like the angular lines on the Cadillacs. I guess it appeals to a younger crowd. I drove the 2007 Escalade which ... Read More

Six months ago Cadillac was not on my radar screen. I am in the market for a newer SUV. I am tired of getting in and out of my wife's LS400. It is a nice car and we will keep it. We want something newer for taking trips in. My wife leans toward the Mercedes as she owned several and liked them. I am not wanting to deal with the local ... Read More

In spite of the popularity of the newly designed Escalade. It has some slick features for sure. I do not think it will be as popular as the last generation. UNLESS they go back to the seats that are the standard of comfort in a luxury vehicle. Just read the reviews here on Edmund's the number one complaint is the rock hard seats. Most by repeat buyers that were familiar with ... Read More

Are the 2007 models as good as the 2006?
Written by: gagrice on Mar 26, 2007 7:31:25 PM
I just went in to my local Cadillac dealer. Real nice salesman. Went through all the finer points of the SRX and Escalade. I am in agreement with several owners of the new Escalade. The seats are TOO hard. The 2007 Escalade has some great features and drives like a dream car. The SRX has the neatest moonroof. Opens up way back. The SRX felt a bit cramped to me. Not ... Read More

CR's recent survey of 1.3 million cars belonging to subscribers give Cadillac pretty bad marks for reliability, sad to say: However, please note some of the other $$$ cars on the same list before you cry "bias"! Least reliable Vehicles listed in scoring order, starting with the worst score. SMALL CARS: Chevrolet Cobalt, Nissan Sentra (2006), Volkswagen Jetta (5-cyl.), Chevrolet Aveo. FAMILY CARS: Volkswagen Passat (4-cyl.)* UPSCALE/LARGE CARS: Jaguar X-Type, Chrysler ... Read More

I am a Caddy fan, and I agree with your assessment 95%. Yes, German cars offer advanced technology and refined ride, but are less reliable. The "bells & whistles" make German cars desirable even if reliability is below par. Lets not forget the Germans have lost some of their customer base to Lexus. In 1989 Mercedes & BMW pretty much owned the Luxury segment, and now their fighting for second place. ... Read More

I think that the SRX makes more sense than the Escalade. The Escalade is more or less the same as the GMC Denali. The SRX is all Cadillac, but perhaps a bit smaller than most would want. There seem to be more 2007 program Escalades than 2006's.
