New '22 ID.4. Great range,(280miles). Fast, extremely quiet.
Spacious interior front and back. Charging is extremely quick. 20 minutes while in getting some groceries or a bagel and there's 120 miles of range back in the battery.
Best turning radius of any car I've ever owned.
The only disappointment is the infotainment system, but that has more to do with my preference for knobs and … buttons.
Otherwise, this is a great car.
UPDATE: I've owned a '22 VW ID.4 Pro for 2 1/2 years and put 34K into it. This car has been 100% reliable. It is the smoothest, quietest car I've ever driven. The seats are comfortable, and the interior is spacious. Edmunds says you hear some road noise. I don't know what they're talking about, maybe its the tires they had on their test car, there's none at all in my ID.4. Additionally, there hasn't been a single squeek, or rattle. The ID.4 is listed as a "small SUV," but it feels large. There's plenty of legroom, shoulder room, and headroom in front and in back. Visibility from all sides is excellent. Power from the motor is smooth and instantaneous. Like Goldilocks, I find the ride is not too firm and not too soft. Handling is great for an SUV; the battery located beneath the floor makes for a low center of gravity.
The car has two driving modes, D and B. B provides for one-pedal driving, and you rarely need to apply the brakes. One pedal driving, despite what some say, feels completely natural.
I've been getting 250 miles and more of range, it depends mostly on temperature. The sweet spot is between 55 and 80 degrees.
Range anxiety, can be a drawback, if you take lots of long trips. Then generally, you have to stop at least once at an Eletrify America station. You can usually expect to have to wait for someone else to finish charging. Once you're on though, the car will charge fairly quickly, from 20% battery to 80% in a half hour and about 200 more miles of range.
The biggest negative is the infotainment system, but that's a problem with many cars these days. Auto makers are slowly learning most people want knobs and buttons back on the dash for AC and the radio.
But contrast that with the fact that the car doesn't need any maintenance. The warranty requires you to take the car in once a year, where they usually have a software update. Other than that, there are no oil changes, no air filter, no belts, no hoses, no timing chain, no transmission oil or filter to service. With the one-pedal driving and regenerative braking, brakes will last for a hundred thousand miles.
Overall this is one of the best cars I've ever owned. The only car I would replace it with if I could is the 1967 Mustang convertible I had back in high school in the 70s.
