1998 Honda Prelude
If you’re looking for a old-school VTEC Honda but you don’t want to be like everyone else and have an Integra or a civic the Honda prelude in my opinion is the best normal VTEC car Honda has made. (meaning other then the type R’s and the NSX) the h22 loves to rev like all the old Hondas do and has no problem with you beating on it. Its a very solid engine and if you’re in to upgrading … your car it’s a good place to start because it’s easy to work on and has plenty of aftermarket support.
Pros: Great power, a 7,300 rpm redline ,reliability, excellent transmission, comfortable and quiet for how old it is, and for the fourth and fifth Gens still look good to this day and is also a great starting car to learn how to drive stick and to upgrade.
Cons: The transmission is geared a little too short for my liking so at highway speed’s around 70 to 80 miles an hour the car sits around 3500 RPM. I Bought mine with only 107,000 original miles on it and I drive the hell out of it and I love it! If you can find a decent one with low miles and runs strong I strongly recommend picking it up or at least driving it.
