2.1 4WS--Light, Nimble and Always Fun to Drive

Frank ODonnell, 01/02/2020
1991 Honda Prelude
Few of the cars I have owned in my lifetime are as much fun to drive as the Honda Prelude. If you are familiar with these cars you know they are a product of the Japanese "bubble" period of over-engineering. The '91 SI example is probably the best Prelude of that generation. Add the four-wheel-steering option and you have one of the best made front-wheel drive Japanese cars ever. … Magazines of the time diminished the value of the 4WS as an over-priced option, but buying one now with the feature is mandatory if you believe that the most important feature of a car is its steering and handling. (Isn't it what you do most every moment when you're behind the wheel?) During the late '80s and nineties the Prelude was Honda's technology tour de force and always got the newest features and safety upgrades before the other models in the lineup. The car I own now is my second Prelude. Even though this one is an automatic, it doesn't affect the fun you have every time you get behind the wheel. My advice is look for the lowest mileage example you can find and then drive it. You will not be disappointed.
