Great Little Car! Great local commuter.

2001 Chevrolet Prizm
I had a 2001 Honda Accord, with 136,000 miles on it, that was leaking oil into the coolant, so I needed a replacement. I found this 2001 Chevy Prizm in 2011 with only 27,000 miles on it, for $5,500. Everyone told me that was a high price, but after reading the reviews, I decided to risk it. It is now 2020 and I have 104,000 miles on this car. It is an excellent little car. I drive … mostly non-highway miles and consistently average about 25 mpgs. I have not experienced any of the oil burning mentioned by others, but it might be because I almost do all local non highway miles. I have recently been looking for a replacement and every review I read, makes me appreciate this car so much more. It was well designed and is easy to work on. I have consistently changed the oil about every 3,000 miles. I just recently replaced the front and back stuts/shocks, myself, because you can get them online for $100 a pair, with great youtube videos showing step by step instructions. Other than wear and tear replacements, I have not had any issues. The AC still blows super cold, the transmission is still peppy, the radio is actually pretty decent (I still have the original factory radio). I am not happy with the location of the cub holders, but that is a minor issue. I just replaced the back breaks about at about 90,000 miles. I had replaced the fronts once and checked them and they still have about half their life left. This is a great little commuter car. I would highly recommend it. Look at some of the reviews for some of the newer cars, and you will really appreciate this dependable trooper of a car.
