Very Nice Compact Car

I bought Storm Grey ION-2 with a 5spd manual transmission, power door locks, remote keyless entry, and power windows. I found the ION to have a nice comfortable ride, responsive steering, and pretty decent acceleration. I like the placement of the gauges in the center of the dash (took me only about a day to get used to), the free 1-year of OnStar, the 3- month free subscription to XM- Satellite radio. I think that the styling of the car is great and looks much better than the Civic and is just as attractive as the Corolla. I know that the projected reliability isn't as good as Civic and Corolla, but it also costs about 3k less than either of those cars do. It also has comfortable seats.

Like other reviews here, lots of mechanical problems. At 80,000 I am on my second engine, third ignition switch third set of shifting cables. replaced wheel bearings, stabilizers, and several other front end parts. Would love to trade it, but owe more than it's worth. Looks decent, drives decent when its not in the shop. Unfortunately just a cheaply built car. I know people with older saturns that had decent experiences, but my feeling is this is a good car to stay away from

When I decided to get a new car I knew it would be a Saturn. My ION is the best. It's very roomy and handles very well on the road, and you will always be treated very well at a Saturn dealership.

I bought an ION 3 Automatic and have been very impressed with it. My wife loves the European look to it & are very happy with it so far. The performance is excellent, even as an automatic, noise levels are low & highway driving is calm & quiet. I've driven '03 ION's & Saturn have made major steps with this model since then. 1 year of free OnStar is also a major bonus...Great peace of mind. This & the 5 star safety rating contribute to low insurance rates. All in all, we're very satisfied with the car & the Saturn dealer experience.

Would not buy another Saturn

The car only got about 17 MPG in town. Hwy mpg was what it was supposed to be. At 40,000 miles, the car would not start after filling up with gas. After a couple tries, had to push on gas pedal to start. Also, at 45,000 miles, ignition went completely out and had to replace! Looking to trade car asap.
