Cost to DriveCost to drive estimates for the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT 4dr SUV AWD (4.0L 8cyl Turbo 8A) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $3.73 per gallon for premium unleaded in Virginia.

Avg. Midsize SUV
To create the Cayenne Coupe, Porsche takes the already rakish standard Cayenne SUV, shaves the roofline for a faster silhouette, and reduces passenger capacity to four people. The Cayenne Coupe offers less cargo room as a result, but Porsche maximizes passenger headroom by dropping the rear seat cushion nearly 2 inches. In standard specification, four people can ride in the Cayenne Coupe, but you can add a fifth position as a no-charge option.
Other than styling and interior packaging changes, the Cayenne Coupe is nearly identical to the standard Cayenne. That means it offers multiple gas and plug-in hybrid powertrains ranging in output from 335 horsepower to a mighty 670 hp. If you want the quickest and most expensive version of the Cayenne, you'll have no choice but to shop the Coupe lineup because it's the only one offering the riotously fast Turbo GT model.
With the Cayenne Coupe, Porsche competes against similar midsize SUV coupes including the Audi Q8, BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Learn more by reading our detailed Expert Rating of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe.

9/10
How does the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT drive? With a 0-60 mph time of just 3.2 seconds, the Cayenne Turbo GT outgunned vehicles like the Lamborghini Urus and BMW XM at our test track to become one of the quickest SUVs we've ever tested. Acceleration from the turbocharged V8 is both brutal and thrilling, with exhaust wailing and barking on every upshift. The transmission is smooth and quick and always seems to know which gear to be in, and the V8's output means there's always power when you need it.
Braking is impressive, too. In our testing, the Turbo GT needed just 106 feet to stop from 60 to 0 mph, which is right in the mix with the best we've seen from an SUV. Our test vehicle had the optional carbon-ceramic brakes, and we found they held up to multiple braking tests without any fade or diminished performance.
But what's a Porsche without world-class handling? We're happy to report that the Turbo GT delights in corners. It pulled an outlandish 1.08 g on our skidpad, which is again right at the top for the best SUVs we've tested. You can really flog the Turbo GT on the track, where it feels much more like a tall sedan than a lowered SUV. You feel the Cayenne's weight, but it's well balanced and tight thanks to a retuned suspension, torque-vectoring system and rear-axle steering.

Comfort
8.5/10
How comfortable is the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT? The Cayenne Turbo GT offers either eight- or 18-way power-adjustable front seats as standard equipment, depending on your choice of upholstery. Our test vehicle had the 18-way seats with full leather. The padding is firm but comfortable, and we appreciated being able to tighten the bolstering in a vehicle that corners as fast as this one does. This one was set up in the 2+2 configuration with rear bucket seats; an optional bench seat is available. Ride comfort is good thanks to the standard air suspension. You feel the road, but the Cayenne does a good job of soaking up most imperfections.
The three-zone climate control (four-zone is optional) system is easy to use, though the temperature display can wash out if you're looking at it with polarized sunglasses. It blows cold, though the AC cuts out if the engine is off because of the stop-start system. Not great on a hot day. There's a mild amount of wind and road noise on the highway, and the engine is only really loud in Sport and Sport Plus modes.

Interior
8/10
How’s the interior? The Cayenne's interior is a mixed bag. Most of the controls are easy to reach and well labeled. But there are no real buttons for anything beyond the climate control, and that means you'll be taking your eyes off the road to operate things. The menu system can be a bit cumbersome to navigate too, especially in the instrument panel. That said, the updated digital instrument panel shows a good variety of information, and the wide display allows for a lot of info on screen at once.
All Porsches are meant to be driver's cars, so it's no surprise that there's a lot of adjustment for the wheel and seat. You can sit low to feel more like a hatchback or higher for a more traditional SUV seating position. Getting in and out is relatively easy, though the sleek roofline on the Cayenne Coupe means dipping your head a bit. There's plenty of space inside, even with the low roof. Adults should be comfortable in either row. For visibility, the Cayenne's seating position affords a good view out of the front, but the view to the side and rear is limited by narrow windows. We also had some intermittent issues with the backup camera.

Technology
8/10
How’s the tech? The Cayenne is available with lots of in-car tech and driver aids, though few features are standard. Apple CarPlay has wireless connectivity but you still need a USB-C cable to connect with Android Auto. The infotainment screen is clear and responsive, and we didn't have any issues with connectivity or lag. The map is easy to read, and the available voice commands will allow you to input an address or adjust other things like the climate control. Our vehicle was also fitted with the optional Bose audio system. It's good, but most of our staff thought the audio quality didn't fully match the price.
While blind-spot warning is now standard, features like adaptive cruise control must be added as options. That's a shame when you get these same driver aids as standard equipment in rivals.

Storage
7.5/10
How’s the storage? Porsche offers the Cayenne in two body styles: the standard SUV and the sleek-looking Coupe. The Turbo GT is only available with the Cayenne Coupe. That means less cargo capacity than the regular Cayenne, but with 19.4 cubic feet behind the second row and 51.7 cubic feet with the seats folded down, the Cayenne Turbo GT offers similar cargo space to its rivals. The cargo space is wide and flat, though the rear window does cut into the cargo area. The Turbo GT's standard air suspension can be lowered with a touch of a button to make it easier to lift heavy items into the rear. Storage in the cabin is better than before as the refreshed design moved the shifter to the dash, opening up space for another bin that's perfect for a phone, sunglasses or more. The center console bin is still a bit small, but the door pockets are useful and offer enough space for tall water bottles.
Fuel Economy
7.5/10
How economical is the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT? On our real-world mixed-driving evaluation route, we saw 19.0 mpg overall, bettering the EPA's 16 mpg estimate. We don't expect an SUV with a hopped-up twin-turbo V8 to be great for fuel economy, but overall the Cayenne Turbo GT seems to be sufficiently efficient in routine driving.
Value
7.5/10
Is the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT a good value? Porsche build quality is usually impeccable, though we noticed a few cracks showing in the armor. The interior is handsome and well appointed, with nice leather and premium materials on most surfaces, though it's not quite as nice inside as a Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, Lamborghini Urus or Audi RS Q8. We also noticed some minor fitment issues, with some occasional buzzing from the door panel and headliner. It's surprising as most Porsches we test are built like bank vaults.
And it's not cheap either. With a base price just under $200,000, the Turbo GT is the most expensive Cayenne in the lineup. It comes better equipped than other Cayennes, though it's still missing some driver aids like adaptive cruise control that we expect to be included. Ultimately, the Turbo GT does undercut models like the Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX707.
Porsche includes a four-year/50,000-mile basic and powertrain warranty as well as 12 years of rust protection. It also includes four years/50,000 miles of roadside assistance and one year of service visits. Those are all about average for the class.

Wildcard
10/10
It doesn't get much better than this when it comes to pure fun behind the wheel. Simply put, the Cayenne Turbo GT doesn't drive like an SUV. It's large and heavy, sure, but the Cayenne is tuned so well that you can really push it on a winding road or tight circuit. There's power everywhere, whether you need to quickly get away from a stoplight or pass a slow-moving vehicle at highway speeds.
Some may decry the Turbo GT for looking too much like other Cayennes, especially given the price. That's fair, though we think the subtle design changes make it a bit of a sleeper and way less attention-grabbing than something like a Lamborghini Urus or Aston Martin DBX. It's sporty and purposeful without losing the clean lines that make the Cayenne Coupe such a looker.

Which Cayenne Coupe does Edmunds recommend?
Life is all about balance, and when it comes to this Porsche, we think the Cayenne S Coupe offers the best blend of value, performance and access to amenities. With a five-figure base price and a twin-turbocharged V6 engine supplying nearly 100 extra horsepower over the base model, the Cayenne S Coupe represents a sound middle ground between logic and emotion.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe models
The 2023 Porsche Cayenne caters to a wide range of budgets, preferences and outright demands. It is a midsize SUV with standard seating for four people, but you can get a fifth seat at no extra charge. Seven models are available; a base version plus the E-Hybrid, S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S E-Hybrid and Turbo GT. In addition, Porsche offers Platinum Edition versions of the base, E-Hybrid and S variants of the SUV.
Each model is primarily differentiated by what engine is under the hood, though each trim typically includes a few extra features as you go up in price. Every Cayenne Coupe has standard all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission with a manual mode. Highlights of the standard equipment lists are as follows:

Porsche Cayenne Coupe vs. Audi SQ8
The Audi SQ8 costs about the same as the Porsche Cayenne Coupe S, but the Audi is larger, roomier and more practical than the Porsche. The SQ8 is also substantially heavier, so it uses a more powerful turbocharged V8 engine that gets the Audi to 60 mph a tick or two quicker than the Cayenne Coupe S. Choosing between these two SUVs boils down to personal preference unless you want a plug-in hybrid. On that front, only the Cayenne Coupe can deliver.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe vs. BMW X6
The first of the fastback SUV coupes when it went on sale in 2008, the BMW X6 remains a formidable foe in the segment. For starters, the BMW has a base price several thousand less than the Porsche, and the X6 is a little bit roomier inside. As you move up the X6 model ladder, the BMW remains a performance value compared to the Porsche. However, at the top of each model range, the Porsche absolutely spanks the BMW when accelerating in a straight line. But that boast comes at a significant added cost.
Porsche Cayenne Coupe vs. Porsche Macan
The Porsche Macan is smaller and less expensive than the Cayenne Coupe, and it doesn't offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain or as thrilling outright performance. But with the cash you save by choosing the Macan, you get styling that resembles the larger Cayenne Coupe and extra budget to spend on the many available options. Plus, the Macan GTS has the same engine as the Cayenne Coupe S. So, in this particular matchup, the Macan easily outperforms its bigger, and pricier, sibling.
